Oh boy, did we have an adventure! So, picture this: a massive lorry backing into a loading bay, bam! Colliding with the doorway and causing chaos. The poor structure and Symterra system were in a sorry state, but fear not! Our superhero team swooped in to save the day. We tackled the repairs like pros, restoring everything to tip-top condition. High fives all around! ???? But guess what? Our bird-busting journey doesn't end there! We're gearing up to head over to picturesque Witney, Oxfordshire. We've got a mission to install not one, not two, but a whopping four Symterra systems in a warehouse plagued by sneaky pigeons invading through the loading bays. Those feathered troublemakers won't know what hit 'em when we're done! ???? We're super stoked to be the go-to team for businesses dealing with bird-related headaches. In search of excellence…. Far too often we allow ourselves to settle for less than our best. Usually this is easier to point out in others than ourselves. Take our office lawn crew for instance. It’s really been bugging me that they just let this weed keep growing bigger and bigger without doing anything about it. But it got me thinking what weeds do I have that need attention? The interesting thing about weeds is they grow naturally without any intention. If you don’t cut them or kill then they will just keep growing. Let’s pull and kill some of our own weeds so we can grow some fruit! #excellence #personalgrowth #createabetterway

Where do you go to reflect and recharge? It’s been a rough stretch for those of us in the pork industry. We’ve faced the challenges of California’s Prop 12 and Massachusetts Q3 along with the continued anti-livestock messaging from animal activists. We lost a beloved colleague who brought vision and energy to her job and ignited the rest of us with it. Whether it’s extreme challenges or just the stresses of everyday life, it’s important to have a place to reflect and recharge. For me, our firepit has become a place for quiet solitude. We’ve only had it for two years and it was quite an investment, but I enjoy sitting in the chairs, even without a campfire. It’s quiet and surrounded by flowers and plants. I can hear the soft sounds of the windchime that was given to me when my dad passed away and it comforts me. I reflect on his involvement with countless church, school and community boards and the complex challenges he dealt with, always with a positive attitude. It inspires me to do the same. At night, the firepit turns into the place where our family gathers. We share stories, look at the stars and take turns throwing the ball that our German Shepard dog repeatedly brings back to us for another toss. While the firepit area isn’t as useful in the winter months, we did manage to light a campfire on Christmas Day 2022 and enjoy a warm beverage. However, it was pretty cold and even a hearty Minnesotan like me knows when it’s time to go in. I’ll admit that taking the time to relax and reflect isn’t easy for me, just ask my family. However, I’m going to make an effort to do it more often. Whether it’s the firepit, going for a bike ride or even a walk along our county road, getting away from the noise and stress, even for a small amount of time is beneficial. I love learning about unique businesses. Recently, I saw a man walking around our office courtyard holding a hawk. Did you know hawks are used to keep rabbits and other birds away? Those easy things simply make me truly happy. I spend my life in a quiet area in the mountains of Portugal, taking care of my small farm, my family, and my beloved dogs and cats. At this point in my life, I am genuinely content to embrace and enjoy the beauty that my country has to offer. 🐶🐱 Due to that, the possibility to work fully remotely that Starfish offers is vital for me, allowing me to stay in my peaceful corner and on my little piece of land without having to go anywhere.
