Technology Revolutionizing Healthcare: The article rightly points out that technology is changing how patient care is delivered. Virtual nursing is playing a pivotal role in this transformation. ADT Model Efficiency: The ADT model's focus on streamlining administrative burdens is essential. VNs excel in handling documentation-related tasks efficiently, reducing delays, and improving nursing efficiency. Consideration of Patient Needs: It's crucial to consider that the ADT model may not be suitable for all patients. Factors like impairments and language barriers can limit its viability. This highlights the importance of patient-centered care. The Care Partner Model: The article introduces the collaborative Care Partner model, where VNs work alongside on-site nurses. This approach enhances patient care by utilizing the skills of VNs effectively. Flexibility in Virtual Nursing: The flexibility of offering virtual nursing care around the clock or on a customized schedule is a significant advantage. This flexibility caters to different organizational needs. Safety Measures: Patient safety is a paramount concern. Educating patients about the privacy and security measures when technology is used is crucial for building trust. Incorporating language into admission documents is a wise approach. Versatility in Models: Many organizations blend aspects of both models to adapt to their unique requirements. This adaptability showcases the versatility of virtual nursing care. This is where nursing needs to move. As long as nursing is a hospital expense, rather than a reimbursable healthcare service (as every other healthcare spercilaty: OT, PT, RT etc), hospitals will continue to have large amounts of turnover and low nurse satisfaction. Hospitals profit from low staffing of nurses and low pay.

It's time to address a pressing concern impacting patient well-being and nursing satisfaction—building meaningful relationships within the healthcare setting. We recognize the challenges. Establishing genuine connections with patients takes time—a resource often stretched thin in understaffed environments. Yet, these connections pave the way for genuinely holistic care, addressing physical ailments and emotional and psychological needs. Superficial interactions and unmet patient needs can become all too common when staffing levels are inadequate. Patients may feel like just another case passing through the system, and nurses may need help to provide the care they aspire to deliver. We can't afford to overlook this issue. Patients deserve more than rushed consultations and impersonal care. They deserve to feel heard, understood, and cared for by healthcare professionals who see them as individuals, not just diagnoses. Nurses, too, deserve better. They deserve the time and support necessary to cultivate these connections, to address patient concerns comprehensively, and to derive fulfillment from their work beyond mere task completion. But there's hope. We can transform healthcare delivery by prioritizing adequate staffing levels and fostering environments where nurses can genuinely engage with their patients. It starts with investing in our nursing staff—offering competitive benefits, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for professional development and emotional support. To nurses: Don't settle for environments where superficial interactions are the norm. Seek employers who recognize the value of genuine connections in healthcare, prioritize patient-centered care, and understand the importance of your well-being in delivering it. To hospitals and facilities: Take proactive steps to address staffing challenges and create cultures where meaningful relationships flourish. By supporting your nursing staff in their quest to provide holistic care, you improve patient outcomes and cultivate a workplace where everyone thrives. Together, let's elevate the standard of care by prioritizing meaningful connections and holistic approaches. Patients and nurses alike deserve nothing less. Let's make it happen.
