What are the benefits of access to and then connecting with nature? It's not only about being closer to nature, breathing fresh air and seeing rolling hills and greenery. It's also about understanding where food comes from, knowing about supply chains and opening up opportunities in the agricultural industries. The Pacific Forest of Ecuador is not an easy ecosystem to classify, owing to the fact that it has so many different faces. Various names have been affixed to it over the years, but none of them really stuck. The western coast of Ecuador is, in fact, home to a diversity of distinct forest types within relatively close proximity. Chocó rainforest, premontane cloud forest, moist evergreen forest, and semi-deciduous or dry forest are just a few of the forest types that can be found in the Pacific Forest of Ecuador. In one particular area—in the northwest of the province of Manabí, between the towns of Jama and Pedernales—all of these forest types can be encountered over the course of a single day’s hike. Join us in protecting the Pacific Forest by donating today: www.tma.earth

📢 Our 2023 Charity Impact Report is now live, and we are chuffed. Check it out! 📊 So much work goes into this every year, we collate all of our donations, make them understandable (i.e., actual impact) and share it with the world. 🤝 Now partnering with over 30 charities, it's awesome to see the impact we have and can continue to have, saving animals one sock at a time. 🐾 Some of my fave quotes: ""A million species are at risk of extinction this century, each unique and irreplaceable. The leading cause is habitat destruction, and the solution is to expand nature reserves. Bare Kind's donations support Rainforest Trust projects across the tropics, funding the creation of protected areas where forests and their species can continue contributing to the health of the global ecosystem" from Rainforest Trust UK "The support of corporate partners like Bare Kind is incredibly important for us as a charity. The funds they so generously donate go a long way to supporting our work and ensuring we can continue protecting rhinos, their habitats, and the species they live alongside. Thank you Bare Kind and your wonderful customers for your support in 2023, here's to achieving even more in 2024." from Helping Rhinos #CharityImpact #SustainableBusiness #AnimalConservation #CorporateResponsibility #EcoFriendly #BareKind #ImpactReport #Sustainability #Philanthropy #Conservation

As a citizen of the Oneida Nation and someone who works in conservation policy, thank you Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin for your support for this amazing project! This project, with a variety of non-tribal landowners participating, has taken place on a largely former agricultural landscape. Groups like the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation and Dairy Business Association can appreciate how the restored wetlands capture legacy phosphorus and nitrates. Groups like Trout Unlimited can appreciate how it’s produced cool, clear water for fishing. Groups like the Association of State Floodplain Managers, Inc. (ASFPM) can appreciate the flood mitigation from these wetlands. And groups like Ducks Unlimited, like we do, value the habitat for birds. Let’s support policies that promote projects like this to solve our water problems on landscapes everywhere they’re needed!
NRF donors are supporting long-term bird monitoring at restoration sites on the Oneida Nation Reservation through our Bird Protection Fund! 💛 This collaborative volunteer bird monitoring program co-led by NORTHEASTERN WISCONSIN AUDUBON SOCIETY INC has an impressive track record of surveying birds at important sites on the Oneida Nation reservation’s restoration sites. 🦆 This year’s funding will support migratory shorebird and waterfowl surveys, and breeding bird surveys in grasslands, forests, marshes, and grazing lands. It will also help provide land management guidance to the Oneida Nation, expand understanding of what constitutes bird conservation though a formalized Oneida cultural exchange, and connect Oneida and non-tribal communities. More about how donations to NRF make a difference for Wisconsin at wisconservation.org/give 📸: Caitlin Williamson #conservationnonprofit #migratorybirds #wildlifeconservation #impactstories #grantmaking #donatenow #communitysupport #fundraising

🌳 Update on our ash dieback work at Smardale Nature Reserve 🌳 Good news – we're on track to complete the first phase of the work by the end of March 2024 (watch the video below for a recap on why it's necessary). Until then, the footpath from the main carpark to the viaduct will remain closed. We'll do some follow-up work on the path to make sure it's fully accessible. This has been large scale, complicated and costly work which we're doing as sensitively as possible, leaving as many trees and pollards as we can. Find out more about ash dieback and donate to help our woodlands here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/e8u72n2x Unfortunately, there'll be more ash dieback management carried out in the autumn in different parts of Smardale Nature Reserve, but we don't anticipate this phase of the work to be as disruptive.
