𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄? 3 Billion People Live with Less Energy Than Your Fridge! 😳🤯 That's right, according to the Liberty Energy Better Lives Report (page 29), a staggering 3 billion people around the world struggle with energy poverty, meaning they lack access to reliable and affordable energy for basic needs like lighting, cooking, and heating. This isn't just a developing world problem. Shockingly, even in developed nations like the US, millions face energy insecurity. At Liberty Energy, they believe energy access is a fundamental right, not a privilege. That's why providing clean, affordable energy solutions for everyone is at the core of who we are. Great article from Now Then Magazine - Opus on the brilliant work Barnsley are doing to use solar energy to reduce heating costs for the community. This reinforces two things that I've found: a) Barnsley leads the way on many fronts b) Collective thinking on energy trumps individual When I explored the possibility of getting solar panels on our own house three things struck me: 1. It is really inefficient to do this work one house at a time 2. The feed in tariffs for panels are unfairly low - why? 3. II couldn't find any clear point of advice in my city on how to do it - including whether it was possible in a conservation area Why don't we build a neighbourhood energy grid as developed by Chris Cook? The Supershine project (Horizon Europe), in which ENA is a partner, has the main objective of improving energy efficiency and reducing energy poverty via renovations in social housing. Among the different themes addressed in this project, energy communities play a key role as drivers of the green transition. The estimated number of households affected by #energypoverty across the UK ranges from 𝟒.𝟏𝐦 to 𝟕.𝟓𝐦. The technology to eliminate this energy poverty readily exists, but it’s often priced out for those who need it most. And that’s something we at GivEnergy are working hard to change. ⚡🔋 We’re committed to tackling the perverse inequality of the energy pricing structure in which those most in need pay the most through pre-payment meters. Meanwhile, those that can already afford #renewableenergy products benefit the most. But with collaboration from key players – policy makers, homebuilders, service and technology providers like GivEnergy – we can bring about change. 🤝 To that end, our Group CEO Jason Howlett met with The Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero. Also in presence was Aaron Bell MP, MP for Newcastle under Lyme. Jason was invited down for a private meeting in Claire's personal office to discuss energy poverty and how we can combat it. Also on the agenda was #gridstability and #ukmanufacturing. Ultimately, our mission at GivEnergy is to empower energy freedom for all. This purpose leads our decision making every day, and we’re proud to continue the charge (no pun intended 😉) on such a worthy cause. 🙌 . . . #energystorage #gridresilience #fuelpoverty #energyefficiency #batterystorage
