Attention UK businesses! Did you know that large companies are now required to publicly report their energy use and carbon emissions within their Directors’ Report? The new SECR requirement impacts any company, LLP, or group that exceeds at least two of the three financial thresholds - £36m annual turnover, £18m balance sheet total, and 250 employees. Even if an overseas parent company or group has published a similar report, companies meeting the criteria must still report. I’ll stick to my previous post: comparing VCM with cap and trade is like comparing a car 🚗 to a parrot 🦜. The parrot is cheaper and therefore price should rise to match the car. Err.. what? Completely different set of demands/supply dynamics in the two markets.

Attention Bloomberg and all other news agencies that report on the price of carbon instruments. A carbon credit (or offset) is nothing like a carbon permit (or allowance). They represent very different things, so trying to compare the price of a carbon offset with the price of a carbon allowance is really a useless exercise.
