The Port recently welcomed the CSL Assiniboine of Canada Steamship Lines. The vessel arrived with slag, a byproduct of steel production which is recycled for use in the cement-making process. This practice eliminates waste and supports sustainable infrastructure developments. Learn more about sustainability at Port Milwaukee➡️ tinyurl.com/yy2x34ac

We're keeping it green across regional Victoria. Sustainability plays an important role across our projects and we've got the numbers to prove it. - Recycling and repurposing materials has helped us save more than 800 tonnes of carbon emissions, or enough to fill 800 hot air balloons. - On the Murray Basin Rail Project alone, over 50,000 tonnes of recyclable materials have been used. -The Gippsland Line Upgrade has saved 1484 tonnes of new cement and 91% of non-hazardous waste has been diverted from landfill. - Over 1,300 rail sleepers made from 85% locally recycled plastic have been used across the network, diverting 17.7 tonnes of plastic waste. Market Intelligence Officer - Leading business growth, strategy, technology, products, services and global industry collaborations to envision and realise a digitally driven circular economy.
... The WasteExpo conference program covered a broad range of relevant topics. These included operations, fleet management, safety, recycling, landfill management, sustainability talks, business insights and policy, technology and innovation, the Food Recovery Forum, and organics recycling. While the program addressed essential issues like sustainability, organics, and food waste, there was a noticeable lack of in-depth discussions on the circular economy and material streams, reflecting a greater focus on recycling as a whole.

Looking back on the Waste Expo 2024 (USA)... This years Waste Expo was very much a reflection of the lifecycle of the sector in the US as it gains traction both as a significant supplier of resource materials through growing recycling operations, the transition to circularity, growing social awareness and the mitigation of GHG’s through increasing sustainability legislation. 🌱 Port of Dover's 2023 Sustainability Performance 🌍 We're thrilled to share our sustainability achievements from 2023 with you! Take a look at our latest accomplishments 👇 🌿 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: the high abundance (Number of Individuals) and diversity (Number of different species) of plants and animals throughout the Port continues to show the Port’s commitment to protecting and enhancing the environment, ensuring there are no negative interactions between operations and the environment. 🚢 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬: our fleet saw massive reductions in carbon emissions, this is thanks to the switch to Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil as a fuel, a biofuel made exclusively from waste products. All landside machinery and generators also use HVO as well as all Eastern Docks heating and the majority of vehicles, contributing to the total emission reductions. ♻️ 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: any waste that is not able to be recycled is sent for energy recovery, ensuring that landfill is avoided for all landside waste. International Catering Waste is food waste from outside UK waters, and must legally be disposed of at landfill. The Port continues to explore alternative disposal routes. At the Port of Dover, sustainability isn't just a goal, it's our way of life 🌟 Visit our website to know more about our sustainability targets: https://lnkd.in/dxairq9A #PortOfDover #Sustainability #CarbonReduction #GreenFuture

On World Environment Day, we look back at when Miss Gibraltar 2022 2023 Faith Torres spoke to our HSSEQ Manager, Kayley Mifsud, about key sustainability themes within the MH Bland Group of Companies. Since Faith’s visit, MH Bland has been developing and implementing a variety of sustainability initiatives: ♻️ We separate our waste to facilitate recycling 💡 We use energy efficient light bulbs 🚰 We use minimal plastic in our offices, providing everyone with refillable glass bottles rather than plastic bottles ⛽ We use HVO in our vessels, a renewable biofuel that reduces carbon emissions by up to 90% 🚢 We have offset our carbon emissions from our marine vessels Here at MH Bland, we continuously work to minimise our carbon emissions to ensure a green future. There is always room for improvement, and we will continue on our mission to become more environmentally friendly 🌎 We hope this inspires other companies within our community to embrace greener practices. To ensure a sustainable future, we need to work together. Happy World Environment Day! 💚 #WorldEnvironmentDay #Sustainability

DEDICATED TO A GREENER FUTURE 💚 Emira’s journey towards a greener future began many years ago, and in 2015 we introduced recycling initiatives at properties like Randridge Mall and Boskruin. Fast forward to today, we now have independent waste management companies working across most of our properties to amplify our recycling efforts! 🌱♻️ Aligned with the 2020 National Waste Management Strategy and supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 12, Emira is committed to preventing waste by diverting at least 40% of it from landfills within the next five years. Together, we’re striving for a cleaner and more sustainable environment. 🌍 Why is recycling so crucial? It: ✅ Protects ecosystems and wildlife 🌱 ✅ Reduces waste sent to landfills and incinerators 🔥 ✅ Conserves natural resources like timber, water and minerals 💧 ✅ Prevents pollution and reduces greenhouse gases 🌫️ Want to do your part? Here’s how you can help: 🍌Separate wet waste (food) from recyclable materials 💧Clean and dry recyclables like plastic bottles and glass jars 👉Find local recycling facilities such as shopping centres or community drop-off points Let’s unite in fostering responsible consumption and production for a better tomorrow! 🌟 #Recycling #Sustainability #SDG12 #Emira #WasteManagement #SAREIT #NationalRecyclingDay

Waste reduction, waste management, and circularity were set as strategic priorities at #cop28. Building capacity is critical to achieve sustainable economic growth while preserving natural resources. Initiatives like Puerto Rico's collaboration to build sector capacity and implement initiatives to tackle issues like Sargassum washing up on the shores of the Caribbean Sea are a step toward reaching such goals. #sustainability #resilience #naturalresources #circulareconomy

Dr. Martin Gooch of Value Chain Management International has been talking about the systemic issues plaguing Canada's #foodpackaging sector for decades. Given Canada's goal of reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050, it's now more important than ever to listen to Martin & plan accordingly. Here's an opportunity to hear from him: https://lnkd.in/gwMm7iUD #plastic #circulareconomy #recycling #sustainability

Have you seen the latest life-cycle assessment study on #recycling and #reuse carried out in Norway? The study has compared the Norwegian recycling system with an alternative reuse system using the existing #DRS and it shows that a reuse system does not always bring a better environmental outcome. The study concludes that the current recycling system in Norway has significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than the reuse system. The recycling system also comes out the best in terms of energy requirements. The higher environmental impact of the reuse system when compared to the single-use recyclable system results, among other things, from the transport of empty reusable bottles in crates to sorting facilities and then bottling plants. The study, entitled "Life cycle assessment of the current recycling system and an alternative reuse system for bottles in Norway", was conducted by NORSUS - the Norwegian Institute for Sustainability Research. 🔎 Check it out here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gVAfEhMv
