Misinformation and disinformation are rampant in health and nutrition. I came across an interesting article about sinusitis videos on TikTok and whether the information shared by the users was factual (I think you can guess where this is going). Of the 221 videos identified on this topic in late January 2023, nearly half were posted by nonmedical influencers and of the videos posted by these nonmedical influencers, only 46.7% were factual. And what's even more frightening is that these videos had over 300 million views. Why is this relevant now? The recent Supreme Court ruling in the case of Murthy v. Missouri regarding the government's communications with social media companies about misinformation related to COVID-19 and whether government agencies violated the first amendment. Wellness influencers similarly obsess over a strong and purified body. They assign similar causes to all ailments, which usually include poor diet, a lack of exercise, modern medicine and an inability to escape toxic stress. Sometimes, however, the influencer assigns physical attributes to the perfected body, which is why anti-trans bigotry and fat-shaming run rampant in wellness spaces. The ideal body, which can only be accomplished by resisting the evil mechanisms of allopathic (Western) medicine, is the true goal of nature’s design. Strangely, a number of these same influencers take no issue with cosmetic surgeries, botox or steroids, yet scream at followers for using deodorant or applying sunscreen. https://lnkd.in/gJmmizAd

In our saturated market, your ideal customer: • Knows multiple solutions exist • Has seen 20 similar products • Is actively comparing options • Is skeptical of generic "miracle" claims Your old strategies are falling flat because you're still talking to them like they're newbies. BIG mistake. The game has changed. Here's what you need to know: 1. Solution-Aware (Stage 3): They know about retinols, vitamin C, hyaluronic acid. They're comparing. Your job? Show why yours is superior. 2. Product-Aware (Stage 4): They've seen your product. Now convince them it's THE ONE. 3. Sophistication Level: High. They understand ingredients, have tried multiple brands, and can spot BS a mile away. What works now: 1. Acknowledge their knowledge 2. Provide insider insights they can't get elsewhere 3. Highlight nuanced, specific benefits Example: "You've tried every hyaluronic acid serum out there. But did you know that molecular weight matters? Here's why dermatologists are quietly recommending our multi-weight formula..." Remember: You're not educating newbies. You're convincing skeptics and differentiating in a crowded space. Your audience is smart and well-informed. Treat them that way. I'll share more strategies for reaching sophisticated, aware audiences, so make sure to follow.
