What the heck is SLAG and what is it used for? Slag is a byproduct of smelting; the process of extracting the metal from its ore. In many cases, slag is just discarded, but it can be used in construction as an aggregate, in agriculture to treat acidic soils and in wastewater treatment to lower acidity.
