Nevertheless, digital equipment generates ever growing environmental impacts and the digitisation of our societies results in a digital divide that must be addressed. In this context, GreenTech Forum Brussels is the new professional event dedicated to Tech and Sustainability. Hong Kong, a regional intellectual property trading hub and a global innovation and technology centre, has a robust international business ecosystem and large-scale science and technology clusters. Coupled with a stringent IP protection framework and sophisticated service sectors, Hong Kong is an ideal nurturing ground for the development of green technologies. The city has seen a surge in green innovations, including smart buildings, sustainable materials and local energy solutions. One notable example is #Neuron Carbon, a data-driven tool developed by Neuron Digital Group, a joint venture between Arup and Venturous Group. Neuron Carbon captures a complete record of emissions across the whole ecosystem of a building, encompassing onsite emissions, purchased energy, water, material and waste recycling. The system’s algorithms assist in setting targets and implementation plans and reducing carbon emissions, while also providing an evidence base for carbon credits.
