After the General Data Protection Regulation went into effect for data privacy and security in 2018, it inspired a wave of similar laws in the US. Fast forward to 2024, and the EU has done it again with the EU AI Act. On July 24th, Attorneys Matt Todd, Jennifer L. Bauer, CIPP-US and Romaine Marshall will discuss what makes this Act unique, including its extra-territorial and regulatory frameworks and risk management techniques: https://lnkd.in/gYcrajSJ. #aiact #euai #artificalintelligence

Is the US closer to a federal protection law? The American Privacy Rights Act (APRA, not to be confused with the Australian financial regulatory authority) gives Americans the right to control where their data goes and who gets to see it. This is very promising on a national level. On a state level, privacy laws can still exist so this means additional comprehensive data controls are still required to meet compliance. This will prove challenging for large companies who still have not matured their meta and data governance programs to identify the related data for each individual customer. 🤯All EU Digital & Data Laws tracked and frequently updated? Yes, it's true! As a modern-day legal data & #AI professional, it's hard to keep track of all the laws coming your way. You know the 𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐜𝐭, and most likely heard about 𝐃𝐌𝐀, 𝐃𝐒𝐀, 𝐃𝐆𝐀 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐜𝐭. But what about the ~40 other relevant laws? 𝐄𝐇𝐃𝐒 rings a bell? OK, you know that one. Just like the #GDPR Enforcement Procedural Rules Regulation. But I've never heard about the 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐭 and didn't realize the T𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 is (almost) ready to go (!). 🎁A gift from us (Digibeetle) to you. Call it a #CPDP2024 present. See you at the conference! 👋 PS: the current overview is incomplete, we've identified some 20 laws which will be added soon. Shout-out to Kai Zenner who was the first to do this! 👍 https://lnkd.in/ept_S6Az

For #DataPrivacyWeek, these are my top three data privacy trends for 2024: ➡️ Farewell to cookies: With third-party cookies vanishing, vendors must explore privacy-safe alternatives to gain relevant insights. ➡️ Ethical AI: Organisations need to prioritise efficiency and user privacy, focusing on rigorous and accountable data handling. ➡️ Evolving data law: The UK's data protection bill has sparked debate on further provisions and consent rules, emphasising the need for balance in 2024. #DataPrivacyDay #DataPrivacyWeek #privacyintech #dataprotection
