Last month at #EUSEW2024, we had the opportunity to hear from diverse, European leading manufacuters of #sustainabletransport solutions. Rail transport is often the forgotten yet indispensable peice of the puzzle to decarbonise transport. Nicolas Erb, director at Alstom, told us more about what can be done at policy level to ensure rail transport remain the most energy efficient mode of transport. While it is a never-ending task, Nicolas mentioned three steps: 1/ Support R&D to design electric trains more competitive than diesel ones, notably digitalisation to optimise energy efficiency 2/ Ensure availability of green steel and green aluminium to decarbonise productions 3/ Have public authorities to include energy efficiency as a criteria in public tender (Re)watch the full conference here: https://lnkd.in/e2MDk5zW

This week, we had the privilege to participate at the eMobility Expo World Congress in the forum: Automotive Forum: "Investment opportunities & gaps in the electric and connected vehicle value chain." We also had the opportunity to share our opinion in the Maritime Transport Forum: "Reducing emissions and increasing efficiency: New propulsion technologies for shipping." Along with other experts, we analyzed the challenges facing the #mobility sector and discussed ways to promote #sustainability in the industry. At Methanol Reformer, we design and produce solutions based on methanol reforming technologies to achieve #hydrogen in a clean, efficient, and decentralized way. Our solutions can be applied to both mobile and static environments to reduce emissions and #decarbonize society. Thanks to #eMobility for the opportunity to participate in this excellent congress and for their great organization! #emobility2024 #SustainableMobility #eMobilityExpo #FutureofTransportation #EMEVLC2024

🌟 Key Takeaways from Day 1 | Session 1 of #ZEB2023 Our first session dived into the landscape of ZEB deployment, focusing on EU position and on existing EU/national policies and political barriers yet to overcome for the deployment of large ZEB fleets. 🎤 Eamonn Mulholland delivered an insightful address on the EU bus and coach market, revealing “2023 was a really monumental time in Europe - the only time where the sales of electric buses overtook diesel in Europe. 1 in every 3 buses sold are electric buses”. Despite this progress, Europe is yet to claim global leadership, with key manufacturers producing limited electric vehicles. To meet the European Commission’s ambitious target by 2030, an exponential increase in zero emission vehicle production is required. 👥 We also heard our first panel discuss the successful political measures implemented to date to advance ZEB deployment, such as emission reduction targets, and the remaining barriers to address (e.g., infrastructure, investment, and grid capacity challenges). The panel outlined solutions required to overcome political barriers, including: 🤝 Long term operation between the different stakeholders in public transport: regions, municipalities, bus operators, manufacturers, electricity providers, regulations etc. Including revisiting contract arrangements to promote inclusion of new technologies 💰 Creating the right investment framework, to encourage cities to think geopolitically with the Commission, to strengthen the bus and coach industry in Europe We’ll be back tomorrow morning with further key takeaways from session 2 and 3. #ZEB2023 #ZeroEmission #Decarbonisation #CleanMobility #ZEBdeployment #PublicTransport #Hydrogenbus #Electricbus Busworld - Exhibitions Busworld Foundation Clean Hydrogen Partnership Fuel Cell Bus

In the AVIA Association, the member companies get encouraged to engage with forward-thinking concepts and tailor them according to #regional circumstances. Swiss AVIA members are focusing on establishing #hydrogen refueling stations with focus on long-distance travel. In addition to fast refueling and extended driving distances, this choice also ensures #CO2neutrality through the utilization of "green hydrogen." In Switzerland, surplus sustainable energy is converted into hydrogen and oxygen via electrolysis. The next #opening of a hydrogen refueling station is scheduled for the end of this month in Pratteln.💧 Further details on how the responsible member, Fritz Meyer AG, in collaboration with the IWB Industrielle Werke Basel, harnesses #H2, can be found at the following link: https://buff.ly/3PyHCOS #greenhydrogen #energytransition #AVIAHYDROGEN #sustainableenergy #greenmobility #futureofmobility

The Lufthansa Group joins Airbus Aircraft’s carbon-removal initiative🤝. It is considered a promising solution for reducing CO2 in the atmosphere: The so-called Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS) technology filters CO2 from the air and stores it permanently. The Lufthansa Group began exploring this innovative process at an early stage and sees it as a complementary instrument in its sustainability strategy. The Lufthansa Group has now signed a contract with Airbus Aircraft on the pre-purchase of verified and durable carbon-removal credits of 40,000 tonnes of CO2. The carbon-removal credits will be issued by Airbus through its ACCO (Airbus Carbon Capture Offer) service. The certificates will be available from 2026 and an annual purchase of carbon-removal credits of 10,000 tonnes of CO2 has been agreed for four years. The signing of the contract follows a joint declaration of intent from 2022. #MakeChangeFly More information https://lnkd.in/eNtc4PuY

After a busy and engaging day yesterday at #FIA2024, it was my pleasure today to share the CTO Statement on non-CO2 emissions. We’re looking deeper to determine how to use science and engineering to measure, reduce and mitigate them. We do this by working collaboratively, sharing transparently and engaging our curiosity to find the what, when, where and why of non-CO2. We are exploring every method - all fuel types, meteorological conditions and the operational mitigation opportunities that present themselves as the result of the research into those conditions, and the materials we use to manufacture our products. When we get early results, like with our SESAR project CICONIA, we celebrate the win, but we don’t stop there. There is so much more to discover. And we will keep looking, so we can develop innovative solutions together with our industry partners, research centres and scientists. #nonCO2 #engineering #decarbonisation #sustainableaviation #sesarju #technology

SAG at the International Vienna Motor Symposium 🚘 It it one of the biggest Meet and Greet events of the automotive industry in the EU with presentations and contributions from all over the world! This year we were represented by Johannes Winklhofer as a participant. As in previous years, the focus was on reducing CO2 emissions in the transport sector which is one of the most difficult sectors to defossilize. Battery electric commercial vehicles as well as hydrogen driven applications are available on the market, although today only in low volumes. Crucial for the transition towards a carbon neutral transport sector is the installation of a green electric grid and a hydrogen supply chain. The infrastructure will be the pacemaker for future drivetrain generations. SAG with its commitment to sustainable technology, lightweight design and hydrogen storage systems is definitely on track with global climate initiatives. #hydrogen #sustainability #motorsymposium #saggroup
