In her book, 'What Works: Gender Equality by Design', Iris Bohnet, provides a practical roadmap for designing for diversity: collect data to understand whether and why there is inequality, experiment with what might close the gap and use behavioural insights to create signposts to nudge behaviour toward equality. The EOC 2023 Annual Report on the state of Equal Opportunities in Uganda indicates that atleast,the representation of women in decision-making positions has increased from 14.7% in 2011 to 45.8% currently at the cabinet level. Empowering women as leaders is key in the social-economic transformation of the country. We call for continous support of policies that support women's leadership as well as supporting those that already hold positions of leadership. Insightful. School leaders and teachers play a critical role in ending SRGBV. Research shows that they are the perpetrators and witnesses to SRGBV. It is detrimental to the victims and affects the learning outcomes, self esteem and it also contributes to school dropout. Steps to do better include pre-service training and inservice training on SRGBV. Together we can make a difference. #genderequality #endSRGBV

Today marks the UN Women International Day of #WomenandGirlsinScience - an important day to champion full and equal access to, and participation in, science education and careers. In 2022 the Earlham Institute received its second #AthenaSwan bronze award for gender equality, focused on female leadership training, mentoring opportunities, and championing family-friendly policies such as dependent support and Group Leader Carer Fund. We are acutely aware of historic and current challenges around promoting equality in research environments.
