Plan International condemns the attacks by the Russian military across Ukraine, including on the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv which has resulted in over 20 people confirmed dead. The ongoing war in Ukraine is having a catastrophic impact on children’s physical and mental health. Civilians, especially children, must be protected and not targeted. We demand an immediate and unequivocal end to all violations against children in conflict and for International Humanitarian Law to be respected. Hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, displaced, injured, or abducted after the attack on Israel by Hamas and Israel’s military retaliation. The unspeakable violence has shaken the world, and is a devastating reminder to so many Canadians of the horrors of war. Whether at home or abroad, CanadaHelps condemns any form of hate, discrimination, and violence and calls for tolerance, peace, and the ability to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to both impacted Israeli and Palestinian civilians on the ground. At CanadaHelps, our top priority is to make it easy for Canadians to support ongoing efforts to provide urgent humanitarian aid to innocent Israeli and Palestinian civilians caught in the crossfire. We have assembled a list of registered Canadian charities that are providing life-saving humanitarian assistance to those suffering which will only grow as the Israel-Hamas war unfortunately escalates. Tomorrow it will be 2 years since millions of children’s lives were changed forever in #Ukraine. Since then, children’s lives have been torn apart: 💔Children have seen their homes, playgrounds and schools bombed. 👭They’ve lost loved ones to violence or been separated from family. 🏫They’ve been cut off from healthcare and school. For the past 2 years, our teams, together with our partners, have been providing humanitarian aid and essential services to children and their families within Ukraine and in neighbouring countries. Together we've helped over 2.6 million people, including over 1.1 million children ❤️ However, 2.9 million children in Ukraine are still in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. With no end in sight for this war, we are committed to continue serving children and families caught in this conflict for as long as they need to recover and rebuild their lives. ➡ Learn more about the impact of our work in Ukraine: https://lnkd.in/eK9M6EAA

Call to action!! The ongoing war in Israel and Gaza continues to take the lives of innocent people every day. The terror attack launched by Hamas last Saturday, and the consequent bombardment of Gaza Strip is a heartbreaking reminder that Innocent civilians are the first to pay the price of war. On Friday, the Israeli military issued an order to the civilians of Gaza to evacuate the northern part of Gaza Strip. One of the most densely populated area in the world is forced to somehow survive in less than half of its territory. A population that is over 50% children under 15 years old, while all borders are closed, and humanitarian corridors are yet to be opened. Action speaks louder than words. DONATE NOW, and support the medical aid initiatives to ensure hospitals and emergency responders have the supplies they need. MAP https://lnkd.in/dJ9mtKEd Oxfam https://lnkd.in/dM2kgptt Our thoughts and prayers are with all our Palestinian and Israeli alumni, friends, and supporters and their families. ROPES remains committed to its vision of a post-conflict Middle East, in which the State of Israel and a State of Palestine are at peace with each other and with all nations of the MENA region. That future may seem remote today, but it is the only viable path, and we pledge to honor the victims by continuing to work toward it.

🚨 C&SN Newsletter: November 30, 2023. 🗞 News & opinion at the intersection of NGO rights & national security 👉 Read & subscribe: https://conta.cc/48fr7xN Charity & Security Network urges President Biden to resist calls to designate the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO). Designation would be counterproductive to the goals of countering terrorism and building peace, while greatly exacerbating the humanitarian crisis that some 21.6 million Yemenis face each day. Since the beginning of the current crisis in Palestine-Israel, C&SN has observed with concern the weaponization of the U.S. material support statutes against U.S.-based Palestinian organizations and student groups. These types of allegations, though not new in recent U.S. history, present a dangerous precedent that implicates free speech rights and creates a chilling effect on charitable work in Gaza. On Nov. 14, 2023, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a Compliance Communiqué, Guidance for the Provision of Humanitarian Assistance to the Palestinian People. The purpose of this guidance is to ensure that U.S. sanctions do not obstruct humanitarian assistance in Palestine. The Communiqué encourages donors to continue to donate to trusted organizations to support Palestinians. Charity & Security Network opposes legislation that targets charities. On Nov. 14, 2023, Congressman David Kustoff (R-TN) and Congressman Brad Schnieder (D-IL) introduced legislation that would “revoke the tax-exempt status for any organization that provides financial support or resources to designated terrorist groups." An accompanying press release claimed nonprofits may be providing funding to Hamas, but lacked concrete evidence to support these dangerous allegations. Featured stories: Brown University, Faiza Patel, Fionnuala Ni Aolain, Jairo Bolledo, Amnesty International UK, Lamine Benghazi ( 拉面), John Byrne, Chuck Taylor, Laura Hülsemann, Shilpa Jindia, & more.
