Value has been the name of the game in retail in recent years and few segments have taken advantage of this more than the discount and dollar segment. They have expanded locations and seen significant year over year visit growth both in terms of visits per location and overall visits. Yet it is possible that we are seeing the limit on how much these brands can actually expand. We've seen closures. Dollar General has invested more in pop shelf. It's slightly upmarket. Option 5 below has expanded their reach to products that are above $5. And what this could indicate is that amidst the entire push of the bifurcation of retail, where visits go luxury or value, that there could be a return of the middle.
