I promise this will be my last post (at least for the foreseeable future) on the topic of hiring. When we're looking for an analyst, there are several key qualities we value. They need to be curious, productive, and confident—traits that ensure they can keep up with our dynamic team. And, as everyone at Nucleus Research insists, they have to have a good sense of humor, particularly for my jokes. However, beyond the humor, there's a more critical quality an analyst must possess: empathy. While the role may seem highly technical on the surface, it involves connecting with customers and truly understanding how they utilize technology, identifying their pain points. The ability to listen actively and provide effective solutions stems from empathy. #hiring #hiringtips #techanalyst

Hiring your first dedicated product analyst is an important milestone for any growing company. But when is the right time to make this investment? 💰 In my recent series Beyond the Data (you can check it out on my profile), I asked product leaders to share their thoughts on the best timing for bringing on a specialized data expert. The main thing I discovered is that there isn't a right time. ⏳ Are you ready to scale? What level of maturity is your data at? Do you have the tools in place for an analyst? If you don't have the data infrastructure in place, an analyst isn't going to be able to leverage information from it and give you the insights you need. This is going to come at different points for each company, so it's less about a particular time and more about the preparation needed to make this happen. What you'll need Strong familiarity with the domain: Third and First party fraud, including metrics of success, domain driven analysis methods, visualization techniques Strong background in features correlated with fraud and default , very familiar with customer segmentation, risk modeling, (and other domain related concepts) Familiarity with datasets of relevance: application datasets, credit and transaction datasets, external datasets such as - Email, IP, Phone etc ) Ability to translate customer requirements to modeling problems, success criteria and recommend high level plan. Ability to guide and lead data science teams in exploratory data analysis, analysis of model results, and domain based input on feature engineering including dealing with noise, errors and missing data Ability to validate and signoff on model before product release. Ability to provide requirements for tools Subject Matter Experts should use ( validation tool, analytics reports etc ) Ability to carry out basic analysis using tools of choice (sql, no code analysis tools, excel etc ) Familiarity with concepts in machine learning and statistics : precision, recall, sensitivity, specificity , concept drift, feature importance, xgboost, etc is desired Attention to detail is a must and rigor in analysis is strongly desired Comfortable working in cloud based systems What you'll do As head of Product, you will work closely with the Data Science, Leadership and Technology teams to develop new risk scoring products targeting various types of Fraud and Risk Leverage data to understand the product performance and to identifyimprovement opportunities. Design product experiments and interpret the results to draw detailed andimpactful conclusions Provide recommendations to assist quick product ideation and feature launchdecisions and build intelligent data-driven products to provide the best userexperience Generate ideas for exploratory analysis to shape future projects and providerecommendations for actions Basic Qualifications: Experience in Fraud/Fraud Detection/AML/Risk Analytics is preferable Experience solving ambiguous business problems at scale Bachelors degree or higher in, Statistics, Economics, Machine Learning,Operations Research, Computer Science or other quantitative fields. 2 years of hands-on experience in developing risk scoring models Knowledge of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics,
