How fit is Germany’s #charging infrastructure? With 120,000 publicly accessible charging points, Germany currently ranks second in Europe after the Netherlands. However, a recent study by Statista shows that the country takes a more modest 11th place in terms of the number of charging points per 1,000 inhabitants. But does that necessarily mean that the charging infrastructure cannot meet demand? It is important to note that new #EVs are not appearing on German roads as quickly as was expected just a few years ago, while the expansion of the charging infrastructure is progressing steadily. Taking a look at the ratio between the number of registered electric vehicles and the existing charging points, it becomes clear that the charging #infrastructure in Germany is fully up-to-date. With more than 680,000 charging points, DCS provides access to one of the largest and fastest growing public charging networks in Europe. We will continue working on delivering seamless charging experience and drive public adoption of #emobility. Want to learn more? Stay updated with our news!

At the “Statustagung Maritime Technologien “ (#Maritime #Technologies Status Conference) on December 6 in Berlin, our colleague Felix Dahms will present our current funding project #SimPleShip in the pitch for climate-neutral #shipping projects - MARITIME.zeroGHG. With our innovative #simulation platform for model-based system analysis, we contribute to two fundamental issues in the maritime industry: ❓ How should the future #energy supply on board of ships be designed? ❓ How can the #efficiency of existing ship systems be improved? We will address the particular challenges associated with the complex infrastructure of passenger ships (comparable to that of a small town!) and present our approach of an easily accessible platform in the form of a web app that can also be used to predict real-life scenarios such as a zero-emission fjord maneuver. This enables us to make statements about how a possible battery pack should be dimensioned. Are you interested? Feel free to contact Felix Dahms or stay tuned by visiting us on www.fvtr.de.

Another notable observation from the Enrico Letta report on the EU Single Market is that insufficient investment in publicly accessible charging infrastructure - especially for trucks - would put the decarbonisation of commercial haulage fleets at risk. The report calls for industry, energy providers, network operators, and policymakers to work together to ensure the roll-out of electric chargers across the region, and we at Amazon could not agree more. We’re happy that many of the regulatory puzzle pieces for decarbonising our transport have fallen into place during this ending legislature, with alternative fuels infrastructure regulations (AFIR) and CO2 standards for trucks among the most important cornerstones. Now it is time to ensure that Europe and its industries can deliver, and I see this as a core objective of the new European Commission. This can be achieved by member states implementing legislation for a truly European solution: charging and hydrogen refuelling infrastructure must be available throughout the entire EU. It is excellent to see that Mr. Letta’s report recognises this explicitly, and it is essential to ensure a harmonised EU approach in implementation. Logistics networks must work seamlessly across borders and regions. That way, EU-grown companies like ECOTRANS - whose electric fleet has the highest known mileage per electric truck in Europe within the Amazon network – have the best chance of succeeding. At Amazon we will continue to lead through creating more partnerships and investments: for example, our open-source CHALET tool, which uses Amazon’s science and tech expertise to identify priority locations for charging infrastructure across Europe (read more: http://bit.ly/4djCJTB).

Do we need new subsidy programs for charging stations? 👉‘We don’t’ says Kerstin Andreae, Managing Director of the Federal Association of Energy and Water Industries. In this interesting article (in German) she argues against allocating 1.9 billion euros from the federal budget for charging and refuelling infrastructure since previous funding programmes were overly complex to apply for and, above all, very lengthy to approve and not practical. Instead, she suggests that improving conditions for private sector investments and reducing the acquisition costs of EVs would be more efficient in promoting the widespread adoption of electric mobility. 👉 JOLT agrees In principle with Kerstin Andrea. The market will manage the expansion without over-regulation and well-intentioned incentives. E-mobility and charging infrastructure are just becoming economically viable. More important, however, would be an obligation to provide electricity connections more quickly and the reduction of bureaucracy for e.g. authorisations. 👉 From JOLT ENERGY’s viewpoint, subsidies continue to be an important stimulus to promote technologies (such as HPC)with higher investment costs and should be distributed according to their ability to achieve the greatest impact for e-mobility like putting high-powered chargers in cities where most people have neither access to home charging nor time to wait for slow AC-charging. https://lnkd.in/g7vzr_HQ #joltenergy #emobility #fastcharging #highpowercharging #evcharging #energytransition

As many of you know, the European Union will *mandate* a digital "battery passport" for all mobile and industrial batteries >2KW by 2027, i.e. less than 3 years from now! What does that mean? #energy #sustainability #technology
