Helping SMEs with Strategy, Branding and Sales via Mentoring and Consultancy delivered by Richer Solutions
Who is in charge of sales and marketing in your business? Don’t make the mistake of saying the sales team. The answer is everyone. That doesn’t mean you’ve got to come across as selling dodgy second-hand cars or doing a hard sell worthy of a timeshare presentation. It’s so much more about taking responsibility across the business. Whatever your role, you influence whether a customer decides to buy. The impression you make on them will be their impression of the business. Don’t think that not being in a front-facing role like reception or security lets you off the hook. I recall being told by Christopher Devane that cleaning staff in Disney Parks needed extra time to do their work because they spent so much time giving directions to park guests. To the guests, they weren’t there to keep things looking smart; they were representatives of the Mouse. You are the link between the customer and the sale. You are the first impression. You are the sales team. You are customer service, even if that’s not what your job title says. What’s your experience been? Has great service or an amazing first impression encouraged you to buy? Or put you off? #sales #marketing #customerservice #B2Bsales #accountability #customerexperience #CX #firstimpressions #wordofmouthmarketing #employeeengagement #companyculture #teamwork #richersolutions

Vice President - Marketing, Innovation, Ecommerce I Global Leader l Empowering Female Leadership I Top 100 CMO I Ad Age Breakout Brand Leader I Building hyper-growth Challenger Brands
Are you in sales? According to Zig Ziglar: “I have always said that everyone is in sales. Maybe you don’t hold the title of salesperson, but if the business you are in requires you to deal with people, you, my friend, are in sales” If you asked this question to anyone in AlEn USA, you’d get a resounding YES One of my favorite things to do is to accompany our stellar sales leaders to go meet our retail partners. There is no better way to get direct feedback, understand what is important for the retailer and their shopper and how marketing and innovation can help serve that need. Lots of companies miss this valuable connection between sales and marketing teams. So proud that at AlEn USA my brand leaders are connected at the hip to our sales counterparts and regularly attend sales meetings. Thanks Tim Clow Tim Jones for including me in conversations that will help us serve our customers and win. This photo is at the Thaden Field (VBT) in Bentonville after a fruitful meeting with a big retailer in that area iykyk 👋 If you liked this post, repost ♻️ and share it with your network. Employee Spotlight: Matthew McDonald, General Manager We are thrilled to feature Matthew, our General Manager, as the inaugural employee spotlight for ControlStore Australia. His exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment have been instrumental in driving our success. Engaging Questions for Matthew: Delving into His Unique Experiences and Insights Q - Can you share a recent success story or achievement that you are proud of? A - Whilst not recent I’m proud of the Journey Controlstore has taken to get to where it is now. Its been a long road from when I was asked to write a business and implementation plan for Controlstore in mid 2009 to kicking goals in 2024. A - Im also proud of applying so many lessons learnt early in Controlstore to doing a similar start up for Venturi valves 2 years ago. Having already completed some major projects and developing a service base. Q - If you could have any superpower to help you at work, what would it be and why? Lightning speed! I feel this might help me assist more customers in a day. A - What’s one thing you wish people knew about your job? Primarily being a sales person, some people start out with this perception you're just there to rip them off and are so defensive. Honestly, sales people are there to HELP with a product or service that fills a need the customer has. That’s all we want to do. Q - If our company were a TV show or movie, which one would it be and why? A - How I met your mother: Haaavvveee you met Controlstore / VVA / Barcol Air (Or whichever hat im wearing today…)

Here is one of Jordan Sitter Associates old blog posts. I agree with Bill and Chris's understanding of the pitfalls of promoting high-performing salesmen to management positions. Being a high-performing salesman differs from being a high-performing manager or leader at a dealership. Most great managers are the catalysts of teamwork. They can communicate a common goal or plan in such a way that draws the team in and creates a culture of teamwork with the expectation of success. I would also like to mention that most dealerships make the same mistake in service by promoting their top technician to service manager. The same is true in the parts department. Being a top individual performer is not a reliable indicator or a guarantee of being a successful manager. If you're looking for a sales manager, a service manager, or a parts manager, do not make this mistake. Contact Jordan Sitter Associates to fill all your construction equipment dealership managerial positions with the "right fit" candidate.
