We would like to congratulate our charity partner, ISPCC on winning an award at the Annual Awards for Excellence in Public Relations 2024. The ISPCC won the Best Short-Term Media Relations Campaign Award, for their ‘For some children, Christmas doesn’t happen’ campaign. The Campaign was noted for its “hard-hitting” messaging, which “showed no fear of exposing harsh truths about childhood in Ireland.” We commend the ongoing work of the IPSCC and support them in their mission to enhance the lives of children and young people in Ireland. How can you build trust with your donors to raise unrestricted income? Simon O'Leary and I delivered a session to our More in Tune group this week, with the help of Katie Walker, Sarah Dunning MInstF(Cert) 💙 and Alice Smith. Here was our starter for ten, but keen to build on this list from others perspectives. 1. Spend as much time on stewardship as your asking 2. Use a variety of communication methods to get your stewardship seen - not everyone has an email address and checks your Charity website every week! 3. Get your team on the phone to thank donors and tell them the difference they're making (Thanks Bristol & Weston Hospitals Charity!) 4. Focus storytelling on the individuals impacted through your stewardship, not the equipment or buildings 5. Focus on the difference they (the donor) have made, not you (the charity) have made 6. Don't talk at supporters, make communications two way and involve them through phone calls, events and surveys 7. Make supporters feel like a part of your community, that they are part of something bigger making a difference 8. Know what one action you want your supporters to do next through journey mapping.

The Fundraising Regulator has launched a consultation as part of its ongoing review of the Code of Fundraising Practice. This code of practice is a key tool for charities to use as part of voluntary self-regulation and good governance. For any of my network who work within a charity or support a charity, this is a good opportunity to comment on their proposals to change the code and help ensure that the updated version remains effective and relevant for the future. https://lnkd.in/eTRVBaM6 Deadline for completion is 1st December 2023. #charity #fundraising #regulation #governance

🗳️ What happens if a charity’s non-political campaigning crosses over into political campaigning? Here, Rosamund McCarthy Etherington runs through the two types of campaign recognised by the Charity Commission: non-political and political. In practice, charities will often be executing campaigning strategies that involve both types of activity, and Rosamund gives examples of when this may be the case, reassuring charities that it is not problematic, but it is usually helpful to be clear about each different element of a campaign.
