Appreciation of jazz requires maturity in musical genres. Unless you are naturally skilled in music, jazz will not be in your playlist. This is true of collaboration, leadership, and team building. Early on you want to be the lead and show you can get it done, but maturity brings on the ability to follow and lead. You learn the nuances of human interaction. You can step back and let another talent rise and no how to improve the chorus by collaboration and being in the background and adding in the harmony. Collaboration is being part of the band and not forcing your way to the front.

What Ray Dalio states below feels like my experience working with scrum pods. Highly dynamic and fluid intelligence if we all allow for it to be so, else, we get stuck. This can also be reversed where our own stuckness at times hinders the free flow. Each member needs to feel valued enough , be honest enough and engaged enough in the moment to be able to contribute dynamically. This is what we see when we say someone willingly accepts ownership and drives things. That sense of being valued can be developed from within and also reinforced from outside. If the outside reinforcement doesn’t exist or worse, is negative/diminishing then getting things done sustainably takes lot longer and can be frustrating. On the contrary if my sense of valuing myself is bloated out of proportion then until it gets reasonably tamed down ,this ongoing distortion will also come in the way of overall progress. To make Jazz happen, we all need to know what music am I bringing to the group individually and then be willing to make music on the fly with joy. Be willing to be surprised, not get stuck on one note. #agile #teambuilding #leadership
