Who loves to plan ahead? We plan our doctor/dental visits well in advance (Don't even get me started about the Derm appts which require months to a year in advance) Community Education classes are planned out a quarter in advance. And parent's lets not forget the frantic -"Oh no I forgot to plan camps and things for our kids to do in the summer months"...if you waited too long and too long is literally....in March ......there are no options or slots left. Our personal lives revolve around planning in advance. Planning social impact experiences for your company and team should be no different. Volunteering and social impact events with nonprofits takes planning. The good news is....we are really good at that. When you work with Visit.org we know the dates and times the nonprofit is available which saves you precious planning time. There are some other really important reasons to plan in advance. 1️⃣ Allows nonprofits to better plan for the experience 2️⃣ Helps you ensure greater participation and RSVPs 3️⃣ Reduces Stress Check out the blog post for more details. #planning #planningahead #volunteering #socialimpact

Community is invited to join a new Burnie Works Action Group for the Middle Years Project. Last year, Communities for Children Burnie and Burnie Works explored how families of primary school-aged children access and navigate supports in Burnie. The aim: to co-design a product or service to meet community needs. We call it the Middle Years project. It is for families with children aged 5 to 12 years (Prep to Year 6). 🔸NEXT STEP: Build an Action Group to help guide us as we move into the next stage - turning your ideas into reality! We are holding a 'Come and Try' workshop on Thursday 7 March. This will give you a chance to come and see what it's about. It will be an opportunity to dip your toes in and see if it’s right for you – no pressure. 🔸DETAILS🔸 📆When: Thursday 7 March ⏰Time: 10am to 1pm 🏠Location: Burnie Surf Life Saving Club Facilitated by Fiona Miller, grassroots worker, and facilitator. Yummy morning tea. Safe and welcoming space. We have $100,000 to create something that the community wants and has designed. We will trial and test this work and collect the data to inform change for the future. Imagine if we design something here in Burnie that changes people’s lives, and we get to keep it going! If it doesn’t work as we thought we learn from this experience, and we try again! We get to say what success looks like for us. We need community to lead the way. Let us know if you can make it - use the registration link below. https://lnkd.in/g9qsZebz Learn about the Middle Years Project https://lnkd.in/gp_6Q2RV Read the Middle Years Report 2023 https://lnkd.in/gbdasFyj #burnie #middleyears #codesign #shareddecisionmaking #collectiveimpact

Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and though it is not the only day to make a significant difference by giving, it is a good day to highlight it! Giving generously is important. When you give, you have an immediate impact on young people and the next generation. You participate in a movement much bigger than yourself, and you get in on exponential world change— not to mention the ways it helps and shapes you, your family, and your community. Consider giving to Boy With a Ball tomorrow on Giving Tuesday and watch your impact launch youth as changemakers, reach entire communities, and solve the world's most pressing problems.

“We seeded the [Community Memory] system with a question, ‘Where could you get good bagels in the Bay area?’ … We got three answers; two of which were the expected lists of places where you could get bagels. “The third was the kicker. That one said, if you call the following phone number and ask for the following name, an ex-bagel maker will teach you how to make bagels. This was validation of the concept of a learning exchange.” – Lee Felsenstein Listen: https://lnkd.in/gPAvrr6 #OnlineCommunities #CommunityManagement #CommunityManager #CMGR #CommunityMemory

Exciting News for educators and others working directly with youth! 🌟 ThinkGive is a MA-based nonprofit that offers SEL programs that empower elementary and middle school youth (K-8) to consider other perspectives, build meaningful connections with a wide range of people, and cultivate the belief they can positively impact their own lives and the lives of others. Students who have participated in their program report strong increases in feelings of connection, belonging, self-esteem, and empowerment. Their model is to Train the Trainer, partnering with educators in schools and youth-facing organizations whose missions align and who might need a curriculum to help advance their social and emotional learning and character-building goals. Importantly, they have an SEL for Every Child Fund initiative that allows them to partner with and provide programming to schools/organizations at no cost. They are focused on finding great partner implementation sites to bring high-quality SEL to youth who otherwise might get little or none. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out and I can make the connection. Learn more about ThinkGive: https://lnkd.in/eSjavwRG
