So it's just a pumpkin contest, right? Nope. It starts as a team-building exercise where we all have fun and do not talk about insurance for a bit. Then it becomes office banter, where each tease each other about who will win the contest. Again, sometimes it's the little things that bond and help create foundations. Yes, it is also a marketing program for the agency with more than 600 voters! Finally, it's not only a full year of bragging rights for the winner but it is an opportunity to make a charitable donation to a charitable cause. So, no. It is not just a pumpkin contest. The cleanup and tear-down operations of the NFL Draft has delivered unexpected benefits to local nonprofits. Materials such as carpeting, wood, and the very stairs that NFL hopefuls ascended as their names were called are finding a second life. DETROIT DOG RESCUE is at the forefront of this initiative, cleverly repurposing these elements to build a new spay and neuter clinic on Detroit's east side. The new clinic will provide essential services such as free spaying and neutering to help manage and support the local dog population. Beyond the direct benefits to DDR, this effort is setting a precedent for sustainability and community support. The materials salvaged from the NFL Draft are also being distributed to other nonprofits in the area, helping them enhance their facilities and expand their services. The repurposing of NFL Draft materials shows how the legacy of such events can continue to support and enrich the local community long after the crowds have gone home. According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the U.S. — including 13 million children — are food insecure. The Feeding America network consists of food banks, pantries, meal programs, state associations, and the Feeding America national organization and works together alongside communities to end hunger in America. RSI and DOE Legacy Management contract teaming partners Amentum and TFE are contributing $300,000 to Feeding America to support nine communities adjacent to LM operations. The funds will support nearby food banks in the Feeding America Network. The communities receiving support from the donation include Monongalia and Preston counties, West Virginia; Pinellas County, Florida; Navajo and Coconino counties, Arizona; Grants, New Mexico; San Miguel County, New Mexico; Grand Junction, Colorado; Westminster, Colorado; Hamilton County, Ohio; and St. Charles County, Missouri. #FeedingAmerica

What is the value of ”Take Your Daughter to Work Day? We think it is education and empathy, so the child knows what the parent does daily, but it is so much more. It instills lifelong work values. Meahgan Gibson attended a “Take Your Daughter to Work Day” at Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. To this day she reminds me of a few choice words I stated during a staff meeting but she also pursued a career in Leisure and Hospitality. More importantly she picked up values like; everybody is critical to success (especially the lowest paid hourly associates), every person has a story, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they have a name tag, user their name. Grow by trying new things that others shy away from. Powerful words are “thank you” and “can you help me”, and assisting others even if you do not have time.  Today this was in my feed. I had no idea she was working on this.  Biscuits and socks, who knew? But more importantly, a young professional (from a generation many professionals belittle) leading a project that reflects well on the brand and does good for the community. Also hats off to Dennis Pfaff, Maple Street Biscuit Company and Cracker Barrel for creating an organization culture where young professional growth occurs. Take your daughter to work and as a leader, your relationships matter more than you know. #cio #leadership

Maria Guzman, Thank you and the Windsor Communities team for helping those in need. Your work not only helps people in need, but is a fantastic way to develop leadership in your group. How so? The best leadership is all about high-trust relationships. One of the most powerful ways to build trust is to genuinely love your people. When they know you love them, the result is deeper engagement, commitment, and productivity. When you/Windsor do community service, you literally practice love for others. Every time you practice love, you become a more loving person, leader, and parent--building higher trust, higher performance leaders and teams--at work and home--in the process.
