What an inspiring session with the Four Block Career Readiness Program, San Diego cohort! 🌟 A huge thank you to the incredible Cox Communications team including Miles Bower, Mark Salkeld, Felonte Perry, Charmaine Esnard, MBA, Dennis V. Morgan, and Ingo. Hentschel (your name was mentioned many times) for sharing their invaluable insights and experiences transitioning out of the military. Your stories are truly inspiring! During the session, students gained valuable insights into company culture, career opportunities, and the essential steps needed to pursue their career goals. We discussed the importance of the triangulation process in discovering the path to career success. Networking and relationship-building were also emphasized - a reminder that treating people with respect and staying connected can lead to unexpected opportunities. Finding the right mentor was highlighted as crucial for navigating new chapters in life and gaining different perspectives. Perhaps the most powerful advice shared was knowing our worth and aiming for opportunities that align with our expertise. Let's not settle for less and leverage mentorship and new connections to find opportunities that truly value our skills and contributions. Thank you again to the Cox team for such an enriching session! Looking forward to applying these insights in our career journeys. "My work should speak for itself". If you think that working hard and achieving all your KPIs is enough to get you a promotion. Think again. You might think that your hard work should be enough to demonstrate how committed you are to the organisation. But that's not always the case. If you're waiting for someone to recognise your hard work, you might find yourself stuck or feeling undervalued. What can you do instead? ⭐ Talk about what you're doing ⭐ Talk about your accomplishments ⭐ Talk about what you want to achieve Don't wait for recognition, actively position yourself as someone ready to step up to the next level in 2024. 🚀 Join us on 1st March at 11 am UK time for How to Fast-Track Your Executive Presence and Career Progression Masterclass. Napoleon Hill's Thought for the Day: Don’t ask your employer why you are not promoted. Ask the person who really knows best—yourself. There is only one person who is in charge of your career progression, and that person is you. Lee Iacocca is said to have written his entire career plan on the back of a business card. On it were the promotions he expected to earn and the dates he expected to receive them—until he was named CEO of the company Successful people know that they must create their own opportunities and be ready for them when they arrive. Some organizations have clearly defined career paths while others are more informal in their approach, but you can study the senior people in the company, you can quickly identify the kind of education and experience you need to advance. If you are with the right company, one that excites and enthuses you, identify the career moves you’d like to make and get to work making yourself qualified for the job you want.
