Change happens when people do things. Thinking about things, giving things the thumbs up is all good yes but getting out there and doing something is a whole other level. Kev Crane isn’t a huge star, isn’t a famous sportsman, he’s a singing plumber with a dream. He’s going on the road and he could have just concentrated on ‘himself’ but no he’s taking the Refugee Sports Network message of no racism, no hate in football and other sports out to grassroots sports clubs, pubs and other venues. He’s also giving 20% of any earnings to Kidney Research UK. He doesn’t have to do these things but is. Football at the top talks a good talk about promoting equality and suggests that all clubs at all levels should visibly be tackiling inequality and promoting diversity but still racism, sexism, and homophobia persist. The Refugee Sports Network has a message BOOM BOOM BOOM there’s no room for hate of any kind in sport! Be an example like Kev. If you believe in a principle then do something about it. Intervene when you hear or see casual racism in play. Learn the truth about being a refugee or and an asylum seeker before condemning them. If you can get to Kev’s gigs do! He’s not going to hammer you over the head with politics he’s going to put on a great 80s tinged show and raise awareness at the same time .. whilst having FUN. Park any prejudices you have at the door of the venue and before you go home kick them into touch. BOOM BOOM BOOM there’s no room here for hate! And no place for you at a match if you are a hater.
