🌍🚀 TotalEnergies and Air Products Sign Green Hydrogen Deal! 🟢💧 TotalEnergies SE and Air Products have signed a 15-year agreement for the annual delivery of 70,000 tonnes of green hydrogen to TotalEnergies' Northern European refineries starting in 2030. This is TotalEnergies' first long-term deal following its call to supply 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year to decarbonize its European refineries. The contract supports TotalEnergies' goal to cut net greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 (from 2015 levels). Additionally, the companies signed an MoU for a 150 MW solar PPA in Texas and are exploring further PPA opportunities in the UK, Poland, and France. 💡 Eni’s 3Q23 results shows the company is on track for its low carbon targets, achieving 83% (2.5 GW) of its 3GW renewable capacity target for FY23, and almost halfway (est. 1.48 Mtpa) to its biorefining capacity target of 3 Mtpa FY25. ❓ In contrast, Eni’s aggressive production growth strategy may indicate a material reliance on offsets to achieve absolute emissions targets. Upstream scope 1 & 2 targets are used as KPIs for sustainability-linked bonds, with offsets driving ~60% of reductions between FY18-22. Good to see how big ventures are working toward making hydrogen available and focusing on the supply chain of commercial grade before making it available to the residential market. Fleets and trains are the first and then making it available for residential drivers. looks like the Hydrogen and EV industries are going to float together for some time, I would say a couple of years or a decade.
