My first panic attack occurred at 18 years old. We had migrated to Australia the year prior, and I was attending UWS College five days a week to prepare for Australian university. On this particular day, I was running late to catch my train, a 15-minute walk to the train station kept me away from my train. I was 5 minutes away when I realised my train had just left. The world suddenly felt like it was spinning – heart palpitations, difficulty breathing, nausea – I was paralysed in my own path, gripped by an overwhelming fear of being late. In that moment, I felt like I was on the verge of death. This journey has shaped my understanding of human struggles. My empathy stems from those silent battles, and I hold a deep belief that we can support and uplift one another to be the best versions of ourselves. As a society, we're on a journey, and empathy is the only way forward. Here are a few ways we can foster more understanding and build more kindness: 1. Listen to Listen: Pause and truly hear each other. It's amazing what can unfold when we genuinely listen. 2. Encourage Storytelling: Everyone has a story. Sharing our stories breaks down barriers, fostering more meaningful connections. 3. Keep an Open Mind: Embrace diverse perspectives. Our differences make us stronger. 4. Be Kind: Small gestures can have a profound impact. Let's sprinkle kindness like confetti. It's as simple as asking a person how they're doing. If you're seeking ways to cultivate empathy within your team or organisation, I'm here to help. Reach out, and let's explore how we can foster a culture of understanding and compassion. Remember, our shared journey towards empathy is a powerful force for positive change. #Empathy #PersonalJourney #TeamBuilding #TogetherWeCan #notonmywatch
