📚UPDATE📚 Thank you for everyone who has donated so far however we are still very short on funds and time….please continue to share as we still need about $7,000. The Book Worm received a beautification grant to enhance our outdoor area. We plan to create an amazing story garden for things like storytime, workshops, community reading, a place for teachers to reserve for field trips, and so much more. The bad news is that it is a matching grant and the project needs to be completed by April 2024 to receive the funds. Even matching, the grant does not fully cover what is needed to complete the project and keep The Book Worm running. This time The Book Worm needs your help. We have found a great family-owned local business that can help bring this vision to life. Not only will they be able to help us meet our deadline to receive the grant, but they have graciously agreed to donate the labor and materials to create an outdoor book nook in memory of Aaliyah Marshall-Douglin who passed away last year. Before the bookstore, there was Julia the author. Author of the I Love ME! Book Series and with that a journey of I Love ME! Ambassadors. Aaliyah Marshall-Douglin was one of the original I Love ME! Ambassadors and the I Love ME! team have wanted to honor her memory and love for literacy. The book nook is our way of doing that. Here is where we need your help. We need to come up with a minimum of $8,000 to get things started and to be able to begin the work all while keeping The Book Worm running. We also could use some help when it comes to demolishing the existing structure. Any labor we can take care of, will help reduce our overall costs. https://lnkd.in/et4CY-Tn

I have to share this post for two reasons. One is that I am a proud trustee for Humanimal Trust and really believe in One Medicine for humans and animals (watch the video - Noel explains it better). The second is that I know how many will appreciate how ridiculously cute Noel’s cat, Richochet, is! #onemedicine #humanimaltrust
Happy 10th Birthday Humanimal Trust!! Today, 6th May, we are celebrating our 10th birthday, the day our charity was founded by Professor Noel Fitzpatrick back in 2014. This day is now known as One Medicine Day. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support and dedication for the charity. You are all amazing! Without you we simply would not be here. Thank you from everyone here at Humanimal Trust.

As 2023 comes to a close, we were excited to celebrate our 35th year anniversary and now look forward to the impact we can create in the next 35 years. Your support has been crucial in making a positive impact, but we can achieve more with your help. At our fiscal year end 2023, with support from our partners, NJCC: • Created or retained over 1,661 rental and homeownership opportunities, • Deployed over $181 million in loans and investments, and • Created or retained over 2,237 employment opportunities. At NJCC, we dream of a world where everyone has equitable access to capital and wealth -- where a person’s race, ethnicity, or gender doesn’t dictate their financial future. Our new strategic plan will ensure that we get there. Your generosity fuels our mission, and every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference. Join us in making a lasting impact on underserved neighborhoods in New Jersey and beyond. Your support is not a contribution; it’s a catalyst for positive change. Your year-end, tax-deductible donation will support all our work and improve the quality of life for the people, businesses and neighborhoods we serve. Support us throughout 2024 by making your contribution reoccurring to create even more impact. Thank you again for your partnership and support. Donate at https://ow.ly/eI3z50QmaN7

A week on and Team BGP is still bloody elated at the success of our longest-running and most joyful fundraiser, Bloody Funny. I'm honestly surprised (given the context in which we're all operating RN) but totally delighted to say that this year's event has raised a record amount for our never-more needed work tackling period poverty. Here's a little excerpt from my speech to the totally sold-out (eeeek!) Conway Hall audience last week. Want to help us ensure we can carry on delivering bloody good periods? Get in touch. Right now, there is a penalty on periods. It’s a financial penalty of course, especially as the prolonged and severe cost of SURVIVING crisis rages on. Household budgets are under pressure in all directions. 40% of those on Universal Credit are in work. Food bank referrals are up. People are having to make impossible choices between life’s essentials - and if you have a period, and/or dependents who do, that includes period products. We’re seeing rising and record levels of demand from our community partners, to whom we’ve now distributed more than 375,000 packs of products. Yet we’re not able to meet at least 40% of the demand we’re currently experiencing. We want to make sure everybody has a bloody good period – but right now that is an increasingly hard task. We also experience the period penalty at school, in work and in all parts of life. Periods have become a penalty that we pay with our health, education and work. Stress and anxiety in the workplace – pupils missing school rather than face public questioning as to why they need the bathroom in class – misogynist ‘banter’ and period jokes – no period products in public spaces - these are all daily realities and add up to make menstruation an everyday stressor for most people who experience it. And this is especially, painfully true for the most vulnerable members of our society. And we are BLOODY TIRED of it! Period products should be freely available - and they should be accompanied by healthcare, education, normalisation and conversation – for everyone.

Executive Coach | Business Consultant | Personal Coach, helping C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, and business leaders scale their organizations and drive business results
What an incredible journey it's been over the last 11 years. Worth every bit of effort, energy and resources it's taken to get here! The greatest reward is NOT in any financial benefit, or status, it's being able to have an impact and influence on changing the lives of others for the better. Helping people to live happier, healthier lives through proper exercise and nutrition, in a supportive, positive, nurturing environment. Learning how to start and grow a small business requires so much effort, and includes the following: 👍 Have a customer first mindset 👍 Be an authentic and strong leader 👍 Engage in the community you serve 👍 Focus on people! Build the best staff that embraces your values and has all the skills and desire needed to serve others. 👍 Focus on the numbers! If you are not familiar with how to read and assess a P&L and balance sheet, get the help from a professional! 👍 Be willing to do whatever it takes, and then some... 👍 Mindset - your belief in yourself and your abilities, as well as being able to overcome all adversity that comes your way In the health and wellness space in New Jersey, I am very confident that we would not have survived the COVID pandemic (being closed for over 6 months then significant restrictions over the next nine months), had it not been for all the attributes listed above. Today I am grateful and just as motivated as day 1 to continue helping others to live happier, healthier lives! #franchisee #smallbusiness #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinessgrowth #entrepreneur #entrepreneurshipjourney #physicalhealth #mentalhealth #wellbeing #selfcare #mindset #customerfocus

We are also in awe of your generosity and commitment to giving back to the community.🙏 With over $100K donated to fundraising initiatives over the years, you have truly made a difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you for being such amazing role models and for all that you do to make the world a better place. Cheers to many more years of success, growth, and impact! #TAKEITTOTHEMAX 💥💪
