Be the change you want to see in the world. Recently, our CEO Manish Hirapara and Chief Innovation Officer Rob Petrosino had the honor of talking with local leaders at the Executive Build event hosted by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Palm Beach County. They provided these leaders with actionable insights on how their business, regardless of size or industry, can leverage artificial intelligence to transform operations and stay competitive. We cherish these opportunities to actively contribute to building a stronger local economy. Our collaboration with Habitat for Humanity is part of our commitment to not just be a service provider but a community partner. P.S. This engagement was especially meaningful for CEO Manish, who returned to the Executive Build group, where he had participated five years ago. It was truly a full-circle moment.

🏗️Sustainable Development Spotlight! What if every resident in a community could easily access services–such as parks, grocery stores, libraries, and schools–in less than 20 minutes? What if neighborhoods in the U.S. had robust street life, allowing neighbors to bump into each other while walking to a market or sitting in a park? In my latest spotlight, gathered by the International Society for Urban Health (ISUH) team, Ryan Smolar of Long Beach Fresh and PlacemakingUS discusses the idea of the 15-minute city–a concept out of Paris, France–which says neighborhoods should have most daily amenities accessible within 15 minutes by walk, bike, or public transit. Easy access to markets, parks, and other public spaces, all within a “15-minute” community, can: 🔹 Foster community connection 🔹 Strengthen the local economy 🔹 Eliminate food deserts 🔹 Reduce carbon emissions Learn more about equitable and sustainable urban development, and explore other stories from the field: https://lnkd.in/eZsuT9bf

Jane Jacobs' seminal 1961 book, "The Death and Life of Great American Cities," presents visionary ideas that resonate with the transformative concepts of web3 and DAOs. Here's how they correlate: </Community Participation> #Jacobs: Advocates for active community involvement in urban planning. #DAOs: Enable direct community participation in governance through decentralized platforms. </Diversity and Complexity> #Jacobs: Highlights the importance of diverse uses and interactions in urban spaces. #Web3: Promotes a diverse and dynamic digital ecosystem through decentralization. </Human Scale> #Jacobs: Emphasizes designing urban environments at a human scale to foster social interaction. #DAOs: Operate on a smaller, personal scale, encouraging community and direct involvement. </Local Autonomy> #Jacobs: Supports neighborhood autonomy and local resource management. #DAOs: Allow decentralized communities to self-govern and manage resources. </Resilience and Adaptation> #Jacobs: Stresses the importance of adaptability and innovation for urban resilience. #Web3 and DAOs: Facilitate rapid adaptation and collaborative innovation through decentralization. The decentralized and participatory nature of web3 and DAOs reflects many of Jacobs' core principles, offering new ways to realize her vision in the digital age. https://lnkd.in/ez7Y3cVE ollie.lab<contents: @coikoi; @ia-walker>

I'm excited and grateful to announce that I am joining the Expert Task Force that is supporting the Global Commission on Nature-Positive Cities! This unique multi-city, multi-sector effort is convened by the incredible Cristina Gómez Garcia-Reyes and brings together mayors, business leaders, urban thinkers, and practitioners who will raise awareness of the role that healthy ecosystems play in building more liveable and resilient cities. The Expert Task Force, specifically, brings together 18 subject experts across different domains from around the world to provide technical advice to the Commission. We'll be focusing on three domains of consideration: 1 - How to increase the flow of finance into nature-positive interventions in cities around the world 2 - How to create policy models, regulations, and incentives that can break down barriers to nature-positive solutions in cities 3 - How to develop land-use systems and regimes that effectively integrate nature-positive solutions and systems in cities The Task Force has some incredible heavy hitters on it, so, I'm excited to learn from our co-chairs: Sandra Villars, Carlos Eduardo Correa Escaf, and Federico Cartín Arteaga, and the rest of the members: Maryam Golnaraghi, Ph.D., Craig Holland, Laura Fox, Francisco Martes Porto Macedo, Tatiana Gallego Lizon, Carlo Angeles, Madhumitha Ardhanari, Ka Ming Andre K., Kate Meyrick, Piali Das Gupta, Martin Anzellini, Nora Van Cauwenbergh, Pamela Conrad, and Andreas Kipar. We have a year's worth of work ahead of us and we'll be specifically looking for existing models of nature-positive solutions working at-scale, but also for transformation opportunities for cities to go beyond what's already done. Have ideas? Let's talk.

Intrapreneur and Trusted Advisor - design and advocate for responsible, resilient, and regenerative movements, business, and living
When paths cross yet again... Bas Boorsma and I have both worked and lived alongside without really knowing. For the past months we have been sharing various perspectives because we believe in melting pots in order to support the cities of tomorrow. Some sentences from Urban Innovaters Global’s recently launched website: www.urbaninnovators.global '’To get innovation right, however, we need to learn from 20 years of ‘smart city’ innovation – as well as of the urban innovation practices of more distant chapters of the past. Too many ‘smart city’ efforts of the past have resulted in meagre output and have often been too tech-centric and ahistoric ...' The cities of today bear a diversified pattern of local urban challenges that force the one-size-fits-all paradigms to become obsolete. A localized approach to urban problem-solving can become the catalyst of context-rich innovation across all things urban and create a set of livable habitats for generations to come. The good news is: these lessons are being learned, and can be applied. Digital and analogue fundamentals of relevance to urban life are finally converging. System-wide, interdisciplinary innovations are what we aim for. The time is now. In many ways, we are collectively already late....(…).’ For the same reason I'm a proud supporter of Urban Innovaters Global. Looking forward to build on top of the conversation that has already been kickstarted within the community bringing my passion for systemic change, ecosystem design, sustainable transition and regenerative leadership to the table; cultivating the platform embedding a diverse pool of people needed for the changes we face. More to come…
