In high school, writing essays felt extremely DAUNTING & OVERWHELMING. It's not that I didn't know how to write an essay. It's that I would: - Start writing - Get on a roll - Get lost - Forget the point I was trying to make - Start questioning what I'm writing - Lose confidence & self-belief - Procrastinate by goofing around w/peers - Delete everything - Start again This cycle would happen a few times until I'd squeezed out a painful 2,000-5,000 words. (sound farmillar, huh?) It wasn't until 2 YEARS LATER, that I learned a technique that removed ALL of the overwhelm and frustration out of writing. My teachers had been saying this all along, but the importance was never emphasized (or maybe I didn't listen - lol)😫 The technique: CREATING AN OUTLINE. How? Step 1: WHAT exactly & specifically are you going to write about? - What question are you answering? - What point/argument are you trying to prove? - What are you trying to explain? You can't start writing until you get clear on this. Step 2: What are the 3 main ideas you want to discuss regarding your topic? - Bullet point them Step 3: What 3 sub-points will you discuss under each of your main ideas? - Bullet point them under the 3 main ideas THAT'S IT. This takes the 'thinking' out of the writing, so all you have to do is 'color in the lines' and execute. Now you: - Never get lost - Never question the point you're trying to make - Have a roadmap on where you're going with the piece - Remove all overwhelm UGH. I really wish I learnt this earlier. I hope this helps when you're writing your lead magnets, landing pages, sales copy, email newsletters, content, etc!

Your ideas and stories can change lives. I bring them to life online. Dear coach or therapist seeking an SEO writer, let's talk ↓
The quality of your writing is greatly dependent on how much you have in your mind, and how much your heart is willing to express. In simple terms, 1. Try to know as much as you can about any given topic before writing. If it's your personal experience, try ruminating on it - try to recall and understand as much as you can. 2. Then, avoid holding yourself back. A good writing isn't always perfect. It just is very original and detailed. Ultimately, your writing is going to expose your knowledge and ignorance. And, that's fine. Now, you know what to learn about or further try to understand. Idea: You write to see what you know, so you can learn what you don't know. Writing is as important as reading - it's a way to peek into your own mind. This is why schools prioritise essays and exams. (You are forced to bring out what you think you know.) Now, wouldn't it be such a huge advantage to consistently examine your mind by writing about the things you think you know? Better still, wouldn't it be great to write about the things you are struggling with, or don't know so you will better expose your ignorance and mistakes - to see exactly what needs to be learned? Think about it.
