Do you want to integrate your managed IT provider into your business as if they’re part of the in-house team? Here are 4 tips to work effectively with them so everyone is happy and productive! 1. Set clear expectations. Be up front. It’s important for both parties to be on the same page about what’s expected, especially the scope of work. 2. Full Access: To be effective, your MSP needs to get a full understanding of your current IT infrastructure. Giving them access at the beginning of your relationship will help you get the best service possible. 3. Ask Questions: You should always know what’s happening in your business, especially something of this magnitude. 4. In the event of a disturbance, let the MSP you hired do the work. If they need you to take action on something, they will let you know! Is there anything else you would include? Helping smaller businesses make big changes with AI | Microsoft technologies, AI, digital transformation
For many of the smaller businesses I work with, the right solution to get their IT needs supported properly is to outsource to an external IT services company or MSP. But how do you know if that provider is doing a good job? You don’t want to only find out that something has been missed when it’s too late. In this video I suggest 5 questions you might want to ask your MSP to understand their service better and one key thing you can do today to boost the effectiveness of that relationship. What are the questions you would ask?

In-House IT crews can be costly to build and maintain. How is a managed service provider any different? One of the main benefits of hiring an MSP over your own in-house team is cost effectiveness. With a subscription-based, pay-as-you-go model, you pay a fixed monthly price per user and for any additional services as they are needed. In addition, there are multiple service levels to choose from based on your needs. This means that if you are a small company, you can choose a smaller service level – and scale it up as you grow. Maintaining an in-house team requires you to pay for experts through expenses like salaries, benefits, training etc. Very quickly these add up and can be too costly to maintain, especially for smaller businesses. Of course, there are many other areas to consider when choosing whether or not to switch over to an MSP, but cost-effectiveness is a major pro for outsourced IT.

If you are trying to get good support from a vendor, don't be afraid to be very clear about the thing you are actually trying to get from them. You will save a lot of time. When I open support tickets, I describe the problem I'm having and then at the very end of the note, I'll write the question I'm trying to get answered as specifically as possible. This helps the vendor because they don't have to divine what your problem actually is based on your description (solving for x when what you really mean is y) and it helps you because you've actually defined that problem for yourself. Also, don't be afraid to use the word "problem." I use the word "problem" when I have problems because problems are solvable and "issue" is a vague word that doesn't truly convey that you're trying to fix something that is broken. The real trick is distinguishing between a good problem and a bad problem, which is a hard thing to do and is a post for another day. Changing my wording to be more effective and confident has been an un-learning process for me, and it's ongoing. BTW: if anyone tells you not to use the word "problem," you should respond by saying you are not a child and we're well past the point where we need to use useless business euphemisms.

Is your IT staff stretched too thin? If so, you’re not alone. The tech industry has one of the highest turnover rates, making it difficult for businesses to maintain a reliable IT staff. If your business is struggling to keep up with its technology needs, it may be time to consider hiring a managed services provider (MSP). A dedicated managed services provider (MSP) can eliminate your IT headaches by taking on some or all of your technology needs. A worthwhile MSP will… .Take on the burden of hiring and training new IT staff. .Provide round-the-clock support so your business is always connected. .Help you implement new technology projects. .Offer expert advice on how to improve your IT infrastructure. .Continuously monitor your network for potential problems. Don’t let a lack of reliable IT staff limit your business potential. By partnering with an MSP, you can focus on growth and expansion instead of worrying about technical issues. #MSP #ManagedServices #ITSupport #BusinessGrowth #ExpertAdvice
