It's mid-June already? Whew.
Last month, we shut down the office and our team worked from home for two weeks while we completed our office expansion. As everyone gets settled into the new space, I’m sitting with some solid takeaways from the experience, and am feeling invigorated to lead our growing team!
Here are the core reminders I’m reflecting on:
▪ Grateful that our team is always ready to do the next right thing
We're already a hybrid flexible team, so our office closure didn’t stop anyone from planning in person meetings at the library, or keep our projects from moving forward. By having the right communication tools in place, and keeping consistent expectations, those two weeks flew by without any setbacks to client timelines and deliverables.
▪ Creating room for growth is the first step toward growth
Last year, we reached the breaking point where we needed more work stations and private offices. So we increased private office space by 60%, added 8 more work stations and another conference room, and built out new collaboration areas to encourage refreshed perspectives. While it's not lost on me how this will support increased productivity for our team, I'm such firm believer in curating a thoughtful and comfortable work environment, and am thankful we can provide this.
▪There will always be something that doesn’t go according to plan
Whether it’s sourcing a specific product or adopting new tech, bumps in the road are just part of the road. From the beginning of this process, I made sure to give myself and our partners grace to keep moving forward, and to pivot when needed. Big projects take time to come together, and when everyone involved is committed to working together and finding solutions, it's always worth building in some extra time and flexibility for things beyond our control.
