Quantum Workplace's regular collection and reporting of employee engagement data indicates that after steady declines in the past few quarters, trust in senior leadership has now reached its lowest point in the past 5 years. Many leaders are concerned about what impact this erosion of trust may have on employee engagement, and in turn, employee performance and productivity. Rightfully so. We have new vocabulary terms like "quiet quitting," "productivity paranoia," and "productivity theater" as a result. But what if the opposite is also true? What if trust is damaged by policies, practices, and processes that, even with good intent, don't empower and support people to do their best work? What if low trust is a symptom of lower performing work environments instead of its cause? ...What if instead we enable and invest in employees' success? #employeeengagement #trustinleadership #productivity https://lnkd.in/gcWawqJW

Because I help organizations with their employee engagement efforts, I attended the Detroit Economic Club luncheon yesterday discussing the Return to Office with Steelcase's Sara Armbruster and Rocket Companies' Bill Emerson. Very thought-provoking! Here are some of comments that struck a chord with me: - With newer hires, there is no shared memory of a company's workplace culture. They don't remember "before". Coming back to a shared work space helps foster new memories & reinforces culture. 🤔 - The argument for working remote is productivity; but it should not simply be measured by tasks accomplished. Importantly: how are you contributing to the company getting better? How are you strengthening the culture? ⁉ - What do we want people to do? CONNECT. Camaraderie and culture are part of the ecosystem and shared spaces help. Both panelists challenged leaders to question themselves, to reflect and be intentional, to re-engage in the corporate community. #Culture is not random and #rto is important to fostering that. #employeeengagement #brandedmerch
