Good News Friday is here! Now, whether you are a basketball fan or not, an Oakland University fan or not, last night was an absolute lesson in how one identifies where they are and sees the Dream where they want to go as Oakland upset Kentucky in the NCAA tournament, a 14 seed beating a 3 seed and powerhouse. The article I am reposting from Front Office Sports provides an insight to an individual who was a redshirt freshman at an DII school but whose dream was to be on the court with the best. If you follow basketball, this is a Dream, and one that takes what I hope every leader is willing to admit they need: 🌄 Willing to dream - Let lose, dream at work and dream at home, be willing to do it! You did it as a kid, you can do it again! Remember your dreams as a kid, you wanted to be the best at a certain sport, hobby, whatever it was and you would do everything to make it happen. Some of our best inventions and leaders have been those that dared to dream. People love to get behind a Dream! 🗣 Others - This individual, Jack Gohlke, needed coaches, trainers, his teammates, and many others at the university to be successful. Are you willing to let others help you be successful? 👷♂️ Hard Work - There will never be a substitute for this, and I am not talking about being so consumed that you don't have time for your family, others, or have horrible balance. But when you are in the arena, when you are in practice, when you are at work, you are giving your best, because you know the dream is worth it. Allowing yourself to dream, allowing others to help, working hard, are three great ways to see your life, both professional and personal, go to the next level! Went to Formula 1 in Miami, had sky-high expectations, only to be completely let down from a service standpoint. There was a noticeable gap between what we anticipated and what we actually received. For the price we paid for our tickets, it should have been SOOOO much better. And I'm not alone in my disappointment. Check out social media, and you'll see the flames of discontent burning bright. Now contrast that to the Kentucky Derby, which I've had a chance to experience several times as well, which was also going on the same weekend. Churchhill Downs consistently knocks it out of the park, every time I've been they've gone above and beyond to exceed expectations from a service level. So, here's the million-dollar question: What are you doing in YOUR business to surpass your customers' expectations? It's not just about meeting them; it's about blowing them out of the water! I recently had the opportunity to attend my second Black rodeo, the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo. This rodeo is named after Bill Pickett, a legendary Black cowboy who originated the sport of bulldogging. I was inspired to attend this rodeo after learning about the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls in the United States. Black cowboys have played a significant role in the development of the American West, but their stories are often untold. The Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo is a great opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Black cowboys and cowgirls. It is also a great place to see some amazing rodeo events, such as bulldogging, barrel racing, and roping. I highly recommend attending a Black rodeo if you have the opportunity. It is a great way to learn about a part of American history that is often overlooked. Here are some additional details about the history of Black cowboys and cowgirls that you may want to include in your post: Black cowboys have been a part of the American West since the early 1800s. They played a vital role in the development of the cattle industry, the railroad, and the military. Black cowboys were often segregated from white cowboys, but they still faced discrimination and racism.Despite the challenges they faced, Black cowboys were some of the most skilled and respected cowboys in the West. “Focus on your PROCESS, not your RESULTS.” -Tyler Bennett Had a great conversation with Howard M. Levy and Tyler Bennett today. We were discussing our strategies moving forward on acquiring new business. Tyler had just come back from his weekend trip to Vermont. He was set on going there to compete in (and complete) a 100-mile run which he had trained for over the past year. After 62 miles, Tyler realized that he could not move forward with the race due to a physical inability. It was the first race that he did not finish. When I met with Tyler today, my initial thought was that he was going to be upset that he did not finish the race. This was not the case at all. Obviously, Tyler wanted to finish the race. However, he had to make the best and right decision for himself in that moment. Reflecting on the race, he said something that really stuck with me (the quote above). He talked about his PROCESS as the key to his success moving forward. He spoke about how he was going to think deeply about what could he change in his PROCESS to help him in his next race. At the end of the day, the RESULT is just the product of your PROCESS. If you aren’t getting the RESULT you want, then you don’t have the PROCESS you need. #result #process #realestate #runner
