This summer, we recommenced works on phase 2 at our Bodmin site, Park Lanneves, following the original contractor going into liquidation. Working with our new contractor, Launceston based Triple D Construction, we are proud to reveal how we have made significant savings on carbon generated from the site.
🚚 The original design of the site infrastructure would have involved the removal of a huge amount of spoil. Working with locally based construction firm, Triple D, we reconsidered the groundworks design. By working with the existing ground levels and reducing the need for retaining structures wherever possible, we have avoided 1,300 lorry movements off-site!
☁ What’s more, this will result in an overall estimated carbon saving of at least 700 tonnes of CO₂e. This is due to not sending spoil for disposal off-site, taking into account the fact that soil releases high carbon emissions when disturbed. The design changes also reduced the project duration, cost, and traffic disruption on local roads.
🏡 Sustainability is at the heart of all that we do, and it’s incredibly important to us that we consider how to operate in a way that causes minimal damage to the environment when building across Cornwall. We are always evolving and encouraging others to consider sustainable alternatives.
