It’s time we address DEI and unconscious bias in the staffing industry. Join me and DeLibra Wesley (National Recruiting Consultants and American Staffing Association) as we discuss… 1. Staffing firms should be committed to implementing DEI practices and making it a part of their long-term goals and strategies. 2. Job descriptions should be clear, and gender-biased or masculine language should be avoided. Preferred qualifications should be removed from job descriptions to encourage more diverse candidates to apply. 3. Technology can both enhance and hinder diversity in recruitment. 4 While some software can help remove bias from job descriptions, AI can also perpetuate biases if not properly trained. 5. Small staffing firms can start their DEI journey by implementing simple changes such as creating a gender-neutral dress code, building out a parental leave plan, and promoting cultural awareness days. 6. Pay transparency is a crucial aspect of DEI, and organizations should strive to make compensation information visible and equitable. https://lnkd.in/eCWTPNkA

A big step in inclusivity in hiring practices!
"In an effort to promote fairness and inclusivity in federal hiring practices, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) announced its final regulations to implement the Fair Chance Act. These regulations mark a milestone in ensuring that individuals with criminal history records are provided a fair opportunity to compete for employment within the federal government and its contractor organizations. The regulations are set to take effect on October 2, 2023. The final regulations on criminal history disclosure represent a step toward creating a more inclusive federal workforce. As Kiran Ahuja, OPM Director, said in a statement, “America is a nation of second chances and every person deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.”" Reporting by Alonzo Martinez via Forbes. https://lnkd.in/ewPt7tWP
