The Global Alliance for Rabies Control and its partners have just launched a brand new grassroots initiative on #EndRabiesNow to eliminate dog-transmitted rabies. So, what does it involve? The #CommunitiesAgainstRabies will seek to... 1. Equip local communities by training Dog Health Champions to become the first dog-health-focused workforce for rabies elimination. 2. Develop Rabies Centers of Excellence and support them with capacity building, resources, and finance. 3. Unite local partners to tackle rabies at scale through the Partners for Community Dog Health program. 4. Ensure partners are equipped with innovations and technology to deliver rabies control. Spread the love this Valentine's Day by advocating for the 1 in 10 New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity. Today, City Harvest is joining advocates in Albany for Anti-Hunger Advocacy Day to urge lawmakers to pass a state budget that invests in programs and policies to support food security—including increasing the SNAP minimum benefit to $100 per month, increasing funding for Nourish New York, and fully funding school meals. Together, we can end hunger. Take action: https://p2a.co/qeSiAXq

"Every year, the sisters, along with their supportive mom, Audresha Ricks, host a free event at the Swainsboro Splash Pad for the people of our community to enjoy a day in the sun with their children. During the event Kiy and Kay provide attendees with complimentary food and drinks from different vendors as well as a very informative program on epileptic and non-epileptic seizures and how to overcome them." I spent a lot of time this last week reflecting on all of the things I am grateful for. I live in beautiful southern California. I have a loving supportive network of friends, family, and colleagues. My dog is the sweetest and goofiest best friend. I love my job, my boss, and my team. I get to work in a field where I impact human health and contribute to producing better, safer therapeutics. I have more than I can ask for and I am truly blessed. Now that you know a little more about me, I would like to learn about you. With all of this bounty, I seek ways to give back to my community and one of those ways is to participate in my local mass spec discussion group. Join me at the LAMMS happy hour event this Wednesday from 5-7 pm at Smog city brewery in Torrance. More information is in the flyer below. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
