At Testlio, we work remotely, but we use the distributed-by-design framework.
Think of it like a sports team playbook. Remote work is the game everyone plays, but being distributed-by-design is our set of strategies and plays that help every team member to perform best, no matter where they are on the field.
Here’s what we mean by distributed-by-design:
1) Work from Region: Our team members are grouped by global regions—Americas, Europe/Middle-East/Africa, and Asia-Pacific. This structure supports efficient collaboration during local business hours, while offering the flexibility to work anywhere within those regions, facilitating travel and lifestyle choices without disrupting work.
2) Intentional Relationship Building: We focus on building strong connections among team members and provide multiple channels for creating connections from food channels on Slack to 1:1 virtual Donut sessions.
3) Work-Life Integration: We blend personal life and work to improve overall well-being. Whether it’s a parent attending a school event, an engineer taking a gym break, or a marketer practicing music, our framework supports these activities. This flexibility not only empowers our team to lead fulfilling lives but also to deliver excellent work on a schedule that suits them and our clients.
4) Sharing the Ups and Downs: Transparency is fundamental. We openly share both successes and challenges, fostering a culture where honesty enhances collaboration. This openness ensures everyone is informed and engaged, ready to face challenges together.
Distributed-by-design is our way of making sure everyone at Testlio can work well and be happy.
How important is transparency within your team, and how do you implement it?
