Thoughtful Thursday: Power struggles in workplace: Power struggles in workplace can lead to many stressful and uncomfortable conversations between employees, and management team if not properly addressed by supervisors immediately. Power struggles cannot be buried, ignored, or one-sided otherwise it will escalate the situation overtime. The best way to navigate power struggles is to allow the individuals involved time to take a break to cool off, then speak to each member one at a time, and then together to come up with the best possible solution that can benefit both sides were heard, validated, and prevent future incidents. The Spirit of Strikes and how we can help Tonight I am thinking about world energies and how we can help process those energies. The sprit of strikes is certainly making itself known. Here in Michigan, Nurses at Ascension Providence are striking and the UAW is standing their ground set to strike at midnight. Of course, there is also the ongoing nationwide SAG-AFTRA strike. Workers are making demands of their employers to improve their lives and working situations. All of this reminds me of the time I drew myself holding a picket sign that said, “I just want to teach”. (See picture) Those words kept playing in my head like a picket line chant, so I drew it and even acted it out. “I just want to teach.” At the time, I was trying to make some big decisions in my career, and the part of me that wanted to reach more people more was making itself known. Luckily, I followed the call. What comes up for us as individuals can also reflect world energies, and world energies can bring up things in us that we need as individuals. So my question is, if you were going to strike today what would your picket sign say? For me, I was striking against parts of me and forces in the world that were telling me I could not teach (especially regarding spirituality) or I should not teach for this reason or for that reason. Some deeper parts of me were not going to accept that. Some deeper parts of me knew that I was a teacher. And they were demanding that I let those parts out more. Sometimes we're striking against parts seen and unseen that are being greedy dictators who are also often scared. So what would your strike sign say? Imagine it. Imagine that you had a blank picket sign. And you were going to let a part of you that has some deep need write on your sign. Yours might be I just want to eat. It might be I just want to sleep. It might be I just want to cry. It might be I just want to laugh. I just want to sing. I just wanna play. What does your sign say today?
