Interested in learning what is at stake regarding the future of critical raw materials? ♻ Join us on the French Norwegian Day 2023 “towards a circular economy” ! Global consumption of strategic materials such metals and minerals is expected to double in the next forty years, while annual waste generation is projected to increase by 70% by 2050. A recent study estimates that applying circular economy principles across the EU economy has the potential to increase EU GDP by an additional 0.5% by 2030 creating around 700 000 new jobs. On March 6, 2023, the European Commission adopted the proposed Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), an ambition also shared by the Norwegian government. This is a field of great interest to Norway, as a major producer and exporter of critical raw materials (graphite, titanium minerals, metals such as aluminium, silicon, …) and user of copper, lithium… 👉 Join us on October 12 in Oslo to listen and meet high level French and Norwegian experts: ◽ Alexander F. PhD Candidate at United Nations University (UNU-MERIT) | Circular Economy & Sustainability Transitions
Delighted to share our recent paper co-authored with Shyama Ramani and George Papachristos! This study delves into diverse approaches, frameworks, and methodological tools in transition research, providing actionable insights to operationalize and guide policies for sustainable changes at a systems level. Navigating the challenges and complexities of transition processes, we bridge the theory-policy gap through a three-phased framework: · Baseline Assessment: Identify sustainability challenges, unravel drivers and barriers to change. · Targets Visioning and Pathways Design: Create a vision for the socio-technical system state and design pathways to realise change. · Implementation and Evaluation: Execute policy interventions and assess their direct and indirect impact on the system and beyond. We're particularly excited to welcome empirical applications of this framework and case studies aimed at propelling impactful change in socio-technical systems, contributing to real-world solutions! As our customers look for innovative solutions to today's and tomorrow's most pressing sustainability problems, we at Ahlstrom are in the sweet spot to solve some of these problems with our natural fiber-based specialty materials and science. But the truth is, no single company can solve these challenges alone. I believe in the power of cooperation and co-innovation, and that by working together with our partners across the value chain, we can develop truly sustainable material solutions that meet the needs of people and the planet. I'm excited to share that we've recently released a new white paper that delves into the best ways to drive sustainable co-innovation and how to overcome common barriers. What makes me especially proud is that this white paper is the result of research done by one of our employees who is finishing up her graduate studies – well done Tessa Kauppinen. If you're curious to learn more about sustainable co-innovation and the positive impact we can achieve together, I encourage you to give the white paper a read. Together, we can create a brighter and more sustainable future for everyone. Let’s make a difference together. #WePurifyandProtect #Ahlstrom #Sustainability #Coinnovation https://lnkd.in/egK7_PHX
