2/3 We calculated thermal equations and built prototypes, failed and learned, finally creating what we are now ready to share with the world: Oyster - the world’s first performance cooler. And it’s 100% recyclable. Norway is known for its natural beauty and abundant natural resources, and right in the middle of it all lies the city of Raufoss. Hydro-powered and filled to the brim with aluminum know-how, amazing craftsmen, and a rare can-do spirit made it the perfect home for our technology and manufacturing facilities.

The subject of this project outline is the development, practical application as well as setting the course for achieving market maturity for UHPC with carbon reinforcement. This new combination is to be technically developed and theoretically investigated in particular for structures in the area of offshore and port facilities, for example quay walls or locks. A successful introduction in this segment and its process optimization in less demanding subsections would make a significant contribution to reducing the CO2 footprint in the construction industry. Goals of the project • Massive reduction of CO2 emissions in the construction industry • Savings in primary resources • Increased service life of structures • Cost reduction through faster and resource-saving construction Consequently, our goal is to create the preconditions for the widespread use of C-UHPC as an important mass construction material for reducing CO2 emissions. Did you know that engineers often turn to nature for inspiration in their projects? Biomimicry, the practice of imitating nature's designs and processes, has led to amazing innovations! One fascinating example is the Shinkansen bullet train in Japan. Thanks to Eiji Nakatsu, an avid bird watcher and lead designer at a Japanese railway company, the train was redesigned based on the shape of a Kingfisher's beak. Not only did this make the train 10% faster and more efficient by using 15% less power, but it also eliminated the loud boom caused by tunnel crossings. Nature truly holds the secrets to survival and innovation! Learn more: https://bit.ly/3vGsnf9 #Biomimicry #Innovation #NatureInspiredEngineering

Why wood? Because it is the most versatile material in terms of sustainability, circular, regenerative, renewable, carbon sequestration and carbon storage. More reasons? 👇 Travelling across Spain to visit factories, forests and seats of government, the films show financiers, city leaders in procurement and academia, designers, and European and national sector networks discussing the market’s changing practices, and the different powers each part of the value chain has to unlock timber construction in Spain. As the fourth-largest economy in Europe, Spain’s ability to set precedents and lead by example is clear. The citiES 2030 https://cities2030.es mission brings together Spanish cities in a collaborative framework established by the Fundación Biodiversidad of the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico and implemented by EIT Climate-KIC Spain together with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Ingeniería de Montes, Forestal y del Medio Natural Complementing this work, Spanish timber buildings network, Mass Madera and Built by Nature bring together leaders and pioneers in the built environment to identify and overcome barriers to timber use at a national and city level.
