Four years ago, a gentleman called Ian Colvin posed a seemingly simple, yet profoundly thought-provoking question: 'What is your purpose?' Caught off guard, I realised that I had never truly defined my purpose before that moment. The answer that spontaneously surfaced was raw and unfiltered - "to make a positive change, to make a difference in everything I do" Today, as I reflect upon that response, it strikes me that my initial answer remains not just relevant, but profoundly accurate. My journey has been shaped by a harrowing war experience, an experience that has defined the person I am today. Emerging from those challenging times, I carry with me a robust value system that continues to be my guiding light. This value system is centred around kindness, self-awareness, transparency, and authenticity. It serves as the bedrock of my leadership style and provides guidance in all that I do. These values, cemented by terrifying events, have empowered me to bring about positive change and make a difference in everything I do. Have you taken a moment to define your purpose? Leadership lessons from my 2-year old this week: Celebrate progress. She cheers for every single shot when we're watching golf coverage on TV. It doesn't matter if it was a good result or not. I was thinking about explaining about good shots and bad shots. But then I realized... every single shot was getting the player closer to the hole. Closer to the objective. My daughter was right... that SHOULD be celebrated. Even if the path to the objective wasn't the "right" right one, or had a few extra stops and misses along the way. When was the last time your employer thanked you for your hard work? Davy Shanko and I were asked to join JK Moving Services' & CapRelo's executive team meeting today. When we arrived Chuck Kuhn let us know that they simply wanted to thank us for the difference our work is making for the organization. Wow. Can we talk about how good that feels and how important it is? When employees are recognized it: ✨ Boosts morale.
