🛑 Knowing when to stop your flow from running is as important as knowing its start conditions. Can you imagine standing in a queue for an hour, only to be informed at the counter you were standing in the wrong queue? Wouldn’t it be great if you knew that before lining up in the wrong queue? In software development, there is a principle called the early return. The principle outlines that you should stop the flow of your program (or automation) as soon as possible instead of proceeding with the rest of the logic. Because of this principle, validating exceptions is always the first step when automating a business process in your Flows or Apex. Implementing this principle can be as simple as asking yourself (or your stakeholder) the questions: When should the program stop running? What are the exceptions? What should happen if my query does not return any results? Implementing this principle helps with: 🕒 Improving the user experience: The time to run the automation will decrease. Due to avoiding heavy database operations or executing complex logic. Therefore, the users don’t have to wait needlessly staring at a loading screen. 🔄 Simplifying your automation: Imagine validating exceptions at the end of your flow. In the meantime, you may have created records in external systems. Now you will need to roll back all those changes. Making your program run even longer and increasing its complexity. ⚡️Error Avoidance: Stopping your automation when your query does not return a result, means you can avoid the classic Null Pointer Exceptions in your flow. This approach not only prevents errors but also saves you time that would otherwise be spent debugging. We can name numerous advantages about the early return principle. If I missed any, please mention them in the comments 👇. I feel this principle, combined with effective error handling, ultimately helps you in developing better automations. And helps your users to be notified upfront that they are in the wrong queue instead of at the counter 🥇. #Salesforce #SalesforceDevelopment #SalesforceFlow

🚀 Today, I delved into the test-driven development of flows in Salesforce. It's a crucial topic to master, given the immense power of flows and their inherent limitations. One fascinating aspect I discovered is the per-transaction limits imposed due to Salesforce's multitenant infrastructure. These limits ensure that no single org can negatively impact another, maintaining a smooth operation for all users. To maximize the potential of Salesforce while staying within these boundaries, leveraging tests is essential. Here's a simple diagram summarizing the steps of test-driven development. 🛠️ #Salesforce #TestDrivenDevelopment #SalesforceFlows #Admin

🚀 Are you managing multiple Salesforce environments? Change sets are your best friends! Here’s a quick rundown: 🔽 🔄 What are Change Sets? Change sets allow you to deploy customizations between Salesforce orgs. They are perfect for moving configurations from Sandbox to Production. 🔸They come in two types: 1. Outbound Change Sets: Created and sent from your current org to another. This involves packaging your changes for transfer. 2. Inbound Change Sets: Received by your target org. These change sets are reviewed and deployed in the new environment. ✒ Key features include: 1. Component Transfer: Move objects, fields, validation rules, and more. 2. Dependency Management: Automatically includes all related components. 3. Change Tracking: Keeps a record of deployed changes. 🔸 To ensure a smooth deployment process, always test in a Sandbox first, document your changes, and verify user permissions. 🔸By effectively using change sets, you can streamline your Salesforce development and deployment process, ensuring consistency and efficiency across your environments.
