Millions of Californians who rely on Medi-Cal for health coverage are at risk of losing coverage during the post-COVID-19 redeterminations process. Already, 700,000 have been disenrolled, many due to procedural issues (not necessarily because they're ineligible), which can result in disruptions to care. California Health Care Foundation spoke with Christopher Gomez, an outreach and enrollment manager with Northeast Valley Health Corporation, on strategies to help smooth the Medi-Cal renewals process in LA County. Employing a collaborative funding model to recruit GPs to work both in rural hospitals and in local communities, with costs shared across Commonwealth and state funding streams, could be a way of overcoming GP workforce shortages in rural and regional NSW, according to Far West LHD CEO Brad Astill. #healthequity
