Happy International Women in Engineering Day everybody! Despite the progress made, engineering remains a male-dominated industry, with only 16.5% of engineers in the UK being female. INWED aims to provide a platform for female engineers, playing a crucial role in encouraging young women to pursue engineering. This year’s theme is #EnhancedByEngineering – profiling the best, brightest and bravest women in engineering, who have enhanced people’s everyday lives and are helping to build towards a brighter future. As we delve into the rich history of International Women in Engineering Day, lets remember the trailblazing women who have shaped the engineering world and continue to inspire the next generation of female engineers. By working together, we can work towards a more inclusive and diverse future in engineering, fostering an environment where women can thrive and contribute their unique talents to an ever evolving field that has the potential to change lives for the better. International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), brought to you by Women’s Engineering Society (WES) celebrates its 11th year on the 23rd of June and we are proudly sharing some of our amazing women engineers across the Group. This year’s theme is 'enhanced by engineering'. INWED gives women engineers around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented, with 2021 figures indicating that in the UK only 16.5% of engineers are women. When approaching volunteers, we as a group wanted to learn as much as we can about the amazing women who work for our member companies. We recognise that the areas in which they work are typically male dominated, so we wanted to not only share their successes, but also learn from their experiences and find out if there is anything we as a group can do better to support them. We'll be sharing their stories over the next few days. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3KPKoMo #INWED24 #enhancedbyengineering #celnorgroup #womeninengineering #engineers

FSS – INTERNATIONAL WOMEN IN ENGINEERING DAY This notable global day celebrating the role of women in Engineering is organised by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) and celebrate its 11th year this June. It’s designed to promote the amazing work that women engineers across the globe are doing. This got us thinking about our role in bringing women into our engineering business and a quick bit of research carried out by @ErinErin Barnet (thank you!) revealed results of which we are rather proud: · 1/3 of employees are women – 11 out of 33. · One of our founding directors is a woman. · Jodie & Kay in CATS make up 50% of the technical team. · 60% of our office team are women. · As a company we sponsor or support many female based organisations such as Bradford Bulls Women’s Team, Queensbury u16s/18s, and In With A Shot netball team. · Katharine Barnett represented Fuel Storage Solutions Limited and met the King last year, receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise. INWED gives women engineers around the world a profile when they are still hugely under-represented, so we are confident that we really do support the cause, recruiting and promoting more women into our company than the current stats appear to show. #INWED24 #Enhancedbyengineering #fuelstoragesolutions

YES!!! It's being held again this year!!! The Women in Engineering - South Australia's International Women in Engineering Day (#INWED) Breakfast is on 25th June, with the theme being "#EnhancedbyEngineering". Only 13% of working engineers in Australia are women despite all the recent efforts increase gender diversity. Are women just not ‘programmed’ to be engineers? Or are companies not doing enough to encourage and support gender diversity? Is changing company recruitment policies the only way forward? Or does it cause more harm than good? I invite you to join us as we consider this theme in terms of workforce resourcing, and will pose the central discussion question in an interactive panel discussion: Can Your Workforce be Enhanced by Engineering your Recruitment? Last year this event was a sellout, so register your table, or come with a friend or colleague. Gender diverse audience encouraged!!! Before we take off for the Midsummer celebrations and holiday, we would like to take note of the upcoming International Women in Engineering Day on June 23rd. To join in on this important day, we at EWB-SWE would like to acknowledge the many incredible women engineers in or around our organisation. These women make significant contributions to change and development in Sweden and around the world. They are also true inspirations and role models for other women and girls considering a career in the STEM field or becoming engineers. We will lift a few of their stories the coming weekend, so keep your eyes open! What is International Women in Engineering Day? International Women in Engineering Day, arranged by the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), is celebrating its 11th year. The mission is to promote the incredible work that women engineers across the globe do every day. This year’s theme is #Enhancedbyengineering, highlighting the work that enhances people’s everyday lives and helps build a brighter future. INWED strives to give women engineers around the world a profile, as women are still hugely under-represented in the engineering field. In the UK, for example, only 16.5% of engineers are women, while in Sweden, it's 29%. The INWED platform plays an important role in encouraging more young women and girls to pursue engineering careers. At EWB-SWE, we have increased equality and inclusion as key focus areas, and we strongly support the efforts of the Women’s Engineering Society (WES), Womengineer, Girls in STEM, openhack - coding for humanity and many, many other organisations that work towards this important issue. Read more about the activities arranged by INWED24 on the link below! Welcome to share the stories of other women engineers you would like to highlight, using the hashtag #INWED24. https://www.inwed.org.uk/ #engineerswithoutborders #ewbswe #ewbsweden #EngineeringForHumanity #HumanitarianEngineering

Happy International Women in Engineering Day to all the smart and hardworking women engineers! Project Engineer Tania Bobby has worked in the field for over four years. "It can feel intimidating for those interested in engineering to explore this amazing career because women may think it's not for them since they don’t see enough representation," she says. "Women in Engineering Day showcases and celebrates women in engineering and their contributions and highlights the importance of #diversity in a field that thrives on diverse ideas and creative solutions to today’s problems," she explains. "This event creates a space for conversation between those considering engineering and current engineers they can relate to on a more personal level. Having that kind of representation makes the idea of becoming an #engineer feel attainable. Creating that atmosphere and providing that encouragement is why I believe “Women in Engineering Day” is important," she states. #WomenInEngineering #WomenEngineers Read more about how our engineers help others in their projects: https://ow.ly/1iGq50Sb3zC
