Well written and argued position about why we need to challenge the old mores to survive and thrive as our Armed Forces. Permeability of terms & conditions, zig-zag careers in and out of service and being able to dial up or down service are key to attracting and retaining the best for force development and warfighting if needed. https://lnkd.in/ekpM4dMx

Daniel Defense, LLC makes an amazing, if not inexpensive, rifle. This lawsuit and all of the others - past and future - seek to blame everyone but those who, ACTUALLY, caused the harm. Federal law protects the manufacture and commercial sale of firearms from 99.9% of the lawsuits people come up with, blaming an object for an action. This and - sadly - the many to come, have found a loophole. If you take a moment to Google the claims in this case, another recent one against DD (and Sandyhook), you'll understand why even a videogame producer MAY end up on the hook in a similar suit and how dangerous cases like this one are to the freedom to manufacture, own and enjoy firearms, lawful commerce and freedom of speech. If lawsuits like this one continue, no producer of goods will be safe from the independent actions of third parties, neither will advertisement firms, videogame production houses, alcohol distilleries, pornographers, comicbook companies, publishing houses, the movie industry, or automobile manufacturers.

I am one of the individuals who felt the impact of General Ogolla's passing, despite not having known him personally. I closely followed his funeral service and was deeply touched by his daughter's speech, from which I drew several valuable lessons: 1. Strive for excellence and let your accomplishments speak for themselves. 2. Cultivate your spiritual side; it serves as your anchor. 3. Embrace humility, as exemplified by General Ogolla, who was described as remarkably modest and unpretentious, embodying leadership without the need for a formal title. Rest in peace, General Ogolla!
The fragility of life - the most underrated fortune is to come back home. Our Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla and his men perished in an air crash, and these past few days through his life and death we are seeing bare the importance of humility and intentionality. Live as if tomorrow may never come, be kind to those around you, and those entrusted to your care, knowing full well that at the end of it all, there’s only one way and no one is getting out alive.

Men, when are we going to start focusing on the real problems and not just treating symptoms? This is just another example of where most of government, corporations and people are at in America. Rather than focusing on and solving the real problems, the majority just want to treat the symptoms and feel good about doing something - even if it is a complete waste of time. How many of you have sat in a company meeting where a manager asks everyone to list the challenges the company faces? A list will unfold. Generally, it will consist of a few underlying problems and dozens of symptoms caused by these foundational problems. At the majority of organizations, companies and governments your leadership will then have you spend the rest of the time focused on how to treat the symptoms rather that the actual problems that are causing the symptoms. This is a complete waste of time. It happens though because the majority of leaders today, don’t have the capacity to take on the true problems and instead are just looking for quick wins and to feel like they have done something productive, even if they have not. You will even hear your leadership say absolutely stupid things like “We excel at pivoting,” constantly. In reality they are just running from their problems and pivoting in perpetual circles as they treat symptoms. This stems from weak leaders and if you truly want to get to the underlying problem - weak men. Put your feelings aside and focus on the change that truly matters. Focus on the real problems. I can guarantee with 100% absolution that the gun manufacturer is not the problem.

In The Kill Chain: Defending America in the Future of High-Tech Warfare, author Christian Brose describes a concept in which the speed that a combat force is effective at “closing the kill chain” will determine whether it wins or loses. Brose proposes a redesign of our military combat infrastructure to “understand, decide, and act” faster than the enemy to employ the required force (for example, lethal versus nonlethal) to achieve operational overmatch. Following his lead, we propose the concept of the “Survival Chain” as the medical equivalent that could provide combat casualty care support to the “Kill Chain” to gain and maintain medical overmatch on future battlefields.

In light of the tragic mass shooting at the Moscow concert, staying safe has never been more crucial. Retired Navy SEAL Clint Emerson shares three vital tips on navigating an active shooter situation: 1. **Run** to increase your distance and improve survivability. 2. **Hide** to stay out of the shooter’s sight. 3. **Fight** (a last resort) by using anything at hand as an improvised weapon to defend yourself. Always be aware of your surroundings, noting exits and potential shelters.
