Family Business? The Next Lab is not a family business and at the same time the most valuable family business I know. To my left is my son Naut. That giant has fought his way back to the light after 2 very tough and dark years with the help of Yes We Can Clinics and lots of caring people around us. And now he is setting up his own company. He is doing that all by himself with support and inspiration from The Next Lab team. That team was there when Marieke and I often had to let everything go those 2 years. And they are there again now to take Naut along the path of #entrepreneurship and #innovation. They are truly the best team we could wish for ❤️ Our values are #Meaningful, #Adventure, #Friendship and #Enterpreneurship. Everyone on the team shows that every day. I’m very proud of that. And one more thing: our company deals with innovative health care on a daily base. Also with #mental #health care for #youngsters We see and we read the same distressing reports as you do. I have to keep it real with you guys… What you see of me on social media is probably 10% of my life as an entrepreneur. You see the travel, the networking events, speaking engagements, one-on-one meetings, etc. But you don’t see the hours I spend preparing presentations, reading guidelines and newly published materials, counseling patients and caregivers, following up with physicians, and reflecting on successes and failures through journaling. I say all this because many entrepreneurs lead us to believe that their entrepreneurial journey is smooth sailing. And maybe that’s the case for them. But for me… there has been enormous waves, heavy rainfall, and even a couple of icebergs. While building #geriatrx, I was purposeful about documenting the entire journey. Successes, failures, pertinent lessons, and words of advice and encouragement were all documented to allow me to reflect upon my personal growth. It wasn't long before I realized that the pitfalls and the lessons that came with them, were too good not to share with others interested in a similar business model. They're almost delivering the same service as OnMedCare. Fear and doubt creep in, threatening to overwhelm me. In this moment, I'm reminded that faith and hope can only take us so far.
