The recent discussion Startup House / TechHub Riga focused on discovering and nurturing talent and building high-performance teams and welcomed a distinguished panel featuring: Dr. Frank Danesy, former Head of Human Resources Division at the European Space Agency (ESA) and founder and General Manger of INTELSOURCE. Mārtiņš Bičevskis, Professional board member, Mentor, Angel investor. Pauls Irbins, CEO and Founder of Orbit8. ◾ The audience was captivated with a behind-the-scenes look at ESA's astronaut selection process. Immense operational risks of hiring the wrong candidates were highlighted. ◾ Dr. Danesy debunked the efficacy of many popular career and aptitude tests, suggesting to opt for those that measure fundamental personality traits for long-term career success. ◾ It was strongly advocated for a zero tolerance towards mobbing, bossing, and bullying. France being an example where workplace bullying can even result in criminal charges. ◾ The necessity of clear and concise company values was emphasized to make it easier for employees to understand and implement. 👏 This discussion offered valuable insights into talent acquisition and team building, especially in high-stakes environments. Grateful to Dr. Danesy, other speakers for sharing their expertise and to all participants for their active engagement.
