On your lumbar (lower) spine, there are nerves on each side of your spine known as sympathetic nerves. These nerves are part of the autonomic nervous system, which regulates your unconscious body functions such as heart rate and blood flow. In some cases, the sympathetic nerves can also transmit pain signals. This usually occurs after injuries and leaves you with chronic pain in your back, legs, or feet. A lumbar sympathetic nerve block is an injection into the area of your spine around the sympathetic nerves that are causing you pain. The injection contains a numbing agent and sometimes a steroid medication. This injection blocks the pain signals coming from the sympathetic nerves, alleviating your pain. Dive into the realm of innovative pain management and discover a new chapter of comfort and vitality. 🌐✨ 📞 (866) 303-9355 🌐 https://lnkd.in/gb6vuJ4p . . . #LumbarSympatheticNerveBlock #PainManagement #InnovativeTherapy #ChronicPainRelief #HolisticWellness #ExploreReliefOptions #TargetedPainTherapy #PainFreeLiving #DiscoverComfort #TransformativeBenefits #WellnessWednesday #ExplorePainFreedom #SympatheticNerveBlock #EnhancedMobility #QualityOfLifeImprovement #EmpowerYourHealth

🤔 Question of the Week: What Are the Most Common Causes of Back Pain? Back pain is one of the top reasons people visit us at Houghton Physical Therapy, and understanding its common causes is the first step to effective relief. So, what really causes that nagging back pain? Here are a few common culprits: 🔹Muscle or Ligament Strain: Repeated heavy lifting or a sudden awkward movement can strain back muscles and spinal ligaments. 🔹Bulging or Ruptured Disks: Disks act as cushions between the bones in your spine. A disk that bulges or ruptures can press on a nerve, causing pain. 🔹Arthritis: Osteoarthritis can affect the lower back. In some cases, arthritis in the spine can lead to a narrowing of the space around the spinal cord, a condition called spinal stenosis. 🔹Poor Posture: Long hours of poor posture can exacerbate back pain, especially if your desk setup is not ergonomically adjusted. 👉 If you're struggling with back pain, you don't have to suffer in silence. At Houghton Physical Therapy, we're dedicated to not just treating your symptoms but also addressing the root cause of your discomfort. 🌟 Ready for relief? What Is A Bulging Disc? 🤔 A bulging disc occurs when one of the discs in your spine protrudes forward beyond its normal range, causing pain and discomfort. Similar to a herniated or slipped disc, this condition can be debilitating for some. But fear not, relief is within reach! 👉 Causes of Bulging Discs: From bad posture to genetic factors, an inactive lifestyle, injuries, and sudden weight bearing, several factors can contribute to the development of a bulging disc. 💡 Common Symptoms: While some may not experience any symptoms, others may feel pain, tingling sensations, or numbness at the site of the disc. These symptoms can extend to various parts of the body depending on the location of the bulge. 💪 Treatment Options: Fortunately, there are both non-surgical and surgical treatment options available. Non-surgical options like pain management, physical therapy, and heat/cold therapy can provide relief, while surgical options like microdiscectomy or spinal fusion may be necessary for more severe cases. 🏥 Seek Expert Care: Whether you're considering non-surgical or surgical treatment, consulting with a specialist is key. At Texas Surgical Hospital, we offer comprehensive care and advanced treatment options to help you find relief and regain spinal wellness. Don't let a bulging disc hold you back – take the first step towards a pain-free life today! #BulgingDisc #SpinalWellness #TreatmentOptions #PainRelief #TexasSurgicalHospital

Core stroke pain, also known as central post-stroke pain (CPSP) or central pain syndrome, is a form of chronic pain that can occur after a stroke. It is characterized by persistent, often intense pain on one side of the body, affecting areas such as the face, torso, and/or limbs. The exact cause of CPSP is not fully understood, but it may involve damage or changes in the brain's pain-processing pathways. Pins and needles sensations, medically referred to as paresthesia, can also occur as a result of a stroke. Paresthesia is often described as a tingling, pricking, or numbness sensation. It can affect various parts of the body, including the arms, legs, hands, and feet. 🧠💪 #strokerecoverysolutions #recoverandliveagain #MaureenHarrop #strokerehab #poststroke #poststrokerecovery #strokewarrior #strokerehabilitation #strokelife #stroke #recovery #strokesurvivor #strokeawareness #strokesurvivors #strokeexercise #braininjury #strokeblog #strokeinfo #strokesurvivorsdontquit #strokestudy #survivor

𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻? Back pain can be debilitating, affecting your daily life. While medication and therapy are common treatments, incorporating stretches into your routine can provide significant relief for more minor discomfort and promote spinal health. Stretching helps to improve flexibility and range of motion, reducing stiffness and tension in the muscles surrounding the spine. By gently elongating these muscles, you can alleviate pressure on the vertebrae and nerves, easing pain and discomfort. Here are two stretches you can try at home: - The cat-cow stretch involves arching and rounding the back while on all fours, helping to stretch and strengthen the muscles around the spine. - The seated forward bend targets the lower back and hamstrings, providing relief from tightness and discomfort. Start with gentle movements and gradually increase the intensity as you become more comfortable. Remember to listen to your body and consult with a healthcare professional if you have any concerns or underlying medical conditions that may be causing your discomfort. #SpineHealth #Surgeon #Care #Neurosurgeon #Medical #Minnesota #HealthCare #Health #spine #doctor #PainRelief #Tips #Pain

Is back pain disrupting your life? Decompression therapy offers a modern, non-drug, non-surgical solution for lower back pain. Two main reasons for low back pain are disc degeneration and herniated or bulging discs. 🩺 1️⃣ Disc degeneration is when the disc loses height, causing nerve compression, arthritis, and symptoms like shooting pain, numbness, or tingling in the legs. 2️⃣ Herniated or bulging discs happen when the disc moves into the spinal cord's opening, putting pressure on nerves. 🦴 Decompression therapy gently pulls and releases the spine to rehydrate discs, reducing pressure on nerves. This therapy also helps reduce inflammation and muscle spasms, with sessions lasting about 15 to 20 minutes.🕝 If you're experiencing back pain or radicular symptoms and are seeking a non-drug, non-surgical solution, contact Square One Health. Call 970-207-4463 to find out if decompression therapy is the answer to your lower back pain.📞 #NaturalPainRelief #PainFreeLiving #WellnessCare #PersonalizedMedicine #OptimizeYourHealth #FortCollinsColorado #ChiropracticCare #ChiropracticAdjustment #SpinalHealth #PhysicalTherapy #NeuropathyTreatment #HormoneReplacementTherapy #AdvancedTechniques #IntegratedHealthcare

A deep ache or pain in your glutes, which may also radiate down one leg, is one tipoff that you might have something called piriformis syndrome. In this disorder, radiating pain originates in the piriformis muscle, a band of tissue that stretches from the front of your sacrum (the triangular-shaped bone at the base of your spine) to the top of your thigh bone (the femur) on each side. The piriformis muscle externally rotates your legs and helps stabilize the hips. But when the muscle gets irritated, often from trauma or overuse, it can cause pain. And since the sciatic nerve, which exits the spine in the same general area as the piriformis and extends down the back of each leg, runs close to the muscle (in almost 25% of people it even penetrates piriformis muscle fibers), when the piriformis is aggravated, it can irritate surrounding nerves as well, causing pain down the leg (a.k.a. sciatica), says Nadya Swedan, M.D., a physiatrist in New York City. “It can be so severe it will keep people up at night or make it difficult to sit for long periods,” she adds. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a simple disorder that doesn't have to be limiting. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a persistent pain that you feel in the wrist and hand that is the result of swelling that sort of presses and squeezes nerves. The pressure is why you feel a pain that can range from annoying to outright intense. Folks who use their hands a lot – on a keyboard, for manufacturing, or any repetitive movement – can develop this syndrome, However, it can also arise from other factors like disease and even aging. The good news is, spotted early, it can be effectively treated. The pain can be reduced or eliminated, and in many cases full function can be gradually restored. Often the "cure" is actually non-invasive and behavioral, although steroid injections can be used in severe occurrences. Either way, if you're experiencing consistent wrist and hand pain you will want to consult a physician like the experts at The iMsk & Spine Group early. Untreated Carpal Tunnel Syndrome can lead to permanent nerve damage so act early! #imskspine #carpaltunnel #paintreatment
