** Mag 7 by the numbers ** The “Magnificent 7” – Microsoft, Apple, Google-parent-company Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta Platforms (aka Facebook), and Tesla – have been protecting their respective indices and masking the deterioration in market breadth for quite some time now. These hyperscalers are a tour de force that exhibit boast bold forward-thinking leadership at the top, economies of scale, solid fundamentals, reliable earnings, and print free cash flow as if it’s going out of style. The numbers behind these companies is simply incredible. Are they expensive? Yes, but if your investment strategy was based solely on finding cheap multiples, then you missed out on a decade of tremendous outperformance. Elevated valuations is the most common pushback on the group. Need a reality check on Nvidia, the stock? If you aren't already in lock step with Professor Aswath Damodaran of NYU on this stock, you might answer "yes". In an interview led by Scott Wopner of CNBC (hosts the Closing Bell show), Prof Damodaran called Nvidia, the stock, "priced to the point of insanity". I gladly identify myself as a member of the stock trader cohort proceeding in lock step with Professor Damodaran. Nvidia's current share price - $683.23 - results in a cost for merely 1 contract for a call option with an ITM strike price of $680 and an expiration date of March 15, 2024 - post earnings - of $4,870.00.
