The work started long ago, but today, the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) celebrates 30 years of impact. The Book below, which I picked up a number of years ago, highlights what many industry peers see in practice today. The production of very meaningful projects like affordable housing and community facility financing that would not come from anywhere else but the various programs offered by the CDFI Fund. The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) has awarded $408.2 million in Financial Assistance (FA) awards to 357 CDFIs across the country as part of the FY 2024 CDFI and NACA Programs! 🎉 With an unprecedented surge in applications (40% increase in CDFI Program and 30% in NACA Program), these funds will empower CDFIs to expand operations, introduce new services, and drive economic revitalization in underserved communities. 🟢 Highlights: $257.1 million in Base-FA awards to 332 CDFIs in 43 states, DC, and Puerto Rico. $43 million to serve Persistent Poverty Counties (PPC-FA). $48 million for healthy food access (HFFI-FA). $12.95 million for projects assisting individuals with disabilities (DF-FA). Special support for Native American communities through $43.2 million in NACA Program awards. Community wealth funds.(there is a survey on this now ) I’ve written to the council leader to consider being more strategic with funding pots. I wrote to the sutherland councillors few years back (nobody listens) There are many different sources of funding out there - but many groups do not have the time/word wizardry/capacity to source the funds. Solution- So we employ a team of funding finders - and they fill out the applications. Each county and village has its priority lists to achieve (bigger picture stuff) Windfarms- lottery - levelling up money - coastal community money - etc etc etc . £millions floating about for sutherland alone . Stop the postcode lottery - word wizards getting the cash … & no accountability - has the content of the application is delivered or not . Or checking are the applications- true & accurate.

The Community Development Block Grant program is a vital resource for local governments, providing them with the ability to address critical needs and improve the overall quality of life for their residents. Enacted by Congress in 1974 under the Housing and Community Development Act and signed into law by President Gerald Ford on August 22, 1974, CDBG provides necessary funding to communities across the country to address infrastructure, economic development, housing, disaster recovery, and other community needs. CDBG was the result of the consolidation of eight categorical programs which were federally funded. Low- and moderate-income people are the direct program beneficiaries. States and entitlement cities and counties receive direct program allocations. Small, rural communities receive assistance through their state. Nonprofit organizations, contractors, and other local partner organizations serve as program subrecipients to deliver local CDBG activities. We recently shared our Resonance Community Developers Social Impact Report for 2023/24. Amongst highlighting the positive outcomes created by our three community asset funds, the report also examines why our funds are needed.
