🧵:
The Merge collection auction took place from December 2nd to December 4th, 2021, on Nifty Gateway. Early access prices started at $299, jumping to $400 when public access opened. The final sale price for the most expensive NFT ever was $575.
Collectors aimed to accumulate mass tokens to create larger sphere NFTs. In just 48 hours, 312,686 NFTs were sold for an astonishing $91.8 million to 28,983 collectors. A remarkable achievement!
While Merge tops the list, several other NFTs have sold for millions. "The First 5000 Days" by Beeple, an NFT collage of 5,000 unique pieces, fetched $69.3 million at Christie's in 2021. Beeple worked on this massive project for 5,045 days, creating a diverse collection.
The NFT "Clock" by Pak is third on the list, representing the days of Julian Assange's time in a UK prison. AssangeDAO, comprising 10,000 individuals, purchased it for $52.7 million to support Assange's defense. Demonstrating the social impact of digital art and NFTs.
Ranked fourth in the most expensive NFT list is "HUMAN ONE" by Beeple, sold for $28.9 million in 2021. Beeple retains remote access to develop the piece over time, creating a dynamic and visually stunning piece.
